on the contray, i love the british. you have football, and the spice girls, and monty python, and football hooligans. and this amazing way of swearing that doesn't actually sound like swearing, but it really is.
Only posh people sound like they're not actually swearing. Us commoners tend to give it a more guttural sound, so you know we mean business

I've just graduated from Hull Uni. I've moved back home now, back to Grimsby. I don't know if you've heard of it, but it's a small, unimpressive fishing port with nothing much going on. It's not exactly exciting living here, but I'm hoping to travel a lot :)

once, with family in 2006. i was lucky enough to have an english friend visit for my 21st birthday this year. i go to uni now, and i live interstate (i live in melbourne, VIC and my family lives in Newcastle, NSW)which means any more trips have to be funded by me. and i'm poooooooorrrrrr.

Yeah, it is pretty expensive to travel to and from Aussie. I have family who live over there and I've never had the chance to save up the money to go visit. My friend has been saving for about two years now so he can go live there for a while. He lives this October and I'm so jealous :(

I studied American Studies with Creative Writing. A real Mickey Mouse course, as they like to say
Grimsby isn't all that impressive. There really isn't much going on. It has that charm of knowing a lot of people, which is quite nice in some respects. But it also has the boredom factor.
As for travelling... well I'm actually heading to Chicago to visit Mick on Friday for two weeks. When I get back from there (if Mick hasn't kidnapped me and made me his sex slave) I'll be getting another job for a while and saving to visit my friend and family in Aussie. I also wanna hit Prague again, but that won't take much saving to get there. After that, I'm not too sure. Everywhere and anywhere :D

I've always wondered what it would be like to live in a small place where you know most of the people, bet it's a right pain for gossip though. I take it there isn't much to do there then?
Oh you're paying Mick a visit? You're a brave one. :P
I've always wanted to travel a lot myself, don't know if I could though with no one to go with. Will Australia be a first time then? And Prague must be nice if you want to go again. I have heard that it's great, and that the booze is cheap. xD

Hull is fifty/fifty, in my opinion. The outskirts of Hull are bad. Really bad. But the campus, part of the old city, the Lawns, etc., are really pretty. It's just a horrible clash of modern and old unfortunately =\

Mickey Mouse course = a piss-easy course that anyone can pass, basically. It's double the funny for mine 'cause I did American Studies and Mickey Mouse is American. They think they're so funny
The town isn't so small that everyone knows everyone's business, but around the area where my house is, everyone does know everyone, and gossip is ridiculous. You get a lot of tight-knit communities like that around Grimsby. And yeah, there's enough to do, I guess. We have cinemas, restaurants, ice-skating, pubs, clubs, etc. It's just you can only do these things so many times, ya know?
Yeah, travelling alone can be a bit scary, but it's really difficult to do it with other people unless you're all working on the same schedule and all able to do it. Otherwise you're just waiting around for one person or another to get their act together. It's a lot of hassle.

Hull Uni hasn't got anything on a lot of unis, especially the ones in the bigger cities. It has its charms, though. I loved every minute of being there. On the other hand, I originally went to East Anglia Uni in Norwich, and that's a beautiful campus. Absolutely amazing. But I hated every minute of it =\ I heard Edinburgh is gorgeous though. I bet gossip like that gets a bit tedious too. That sounds more fun than where I live, but I guess you're right. You can only do something so much before it gets pretty dull.
You hear a lot of bad stories though, which makes me weary of going to a lot of places on my own. I guess Australia and Chicago are okay for you though, since you have people to visit in those places. Do you go to Prague alone then?
