As some of you may already know, I'm a bit of an artist... My latest, and current, theme for my pieces is inspired by thoughts and feelings related to peace and war.
I've started this thread in the hopes of receiving some input about the topic at hand. It's come to my attention that there seem to be entirely too many threads on these message boards that lack substance, and I find that unfortunate because I know that Linkin Park has plenty of intelligent fans out there. So, please, contribute any thoughts, feelings, or ideas on the matter - it would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone has any artwork/poetry of their own that's related to the subject, I encourage you to post! We all have opinions, so let's share them and engage in something significant.
p.s. yeah... i've been gone for a while. those of you who know me well know that it's because i've been studying for a college class. anyways... i'll be posting more now that it's done.
thanks

peace & war ...mmm
peace= moon
war= a soldier with a gun on shoulder
:p I've read a poem somewhere about these symbols
Welcome back Tristyn.
On what i think about war, unfair is the first thing that comes to mind. I'm Iraqi, and like you know, there is a war right there still.I've lost family and friends over it,this is why i think it's never fair. Why would innocent poeple have to pay for some selfish leader's mistakes? it's simply sad. Our generations and the ones before them and the ones before them study about how terrible war is,about what happened becasue of past ones, about how stupid they are, yet we still find our selves in them again, it's like history truley is repeating it self.
I would love to share what artwork on wars i've done but i don't have a scanner and photos wouldn't do it justice.
look up WAR-The Prints of Otto Dix, their beyond good.
Thanks for this thread. Please do share your artwork if you wish soon,i'd love to see them.

Is that even Tristyn? It doesn't sound like the Tristyn I always see on these boards.

How come you lost your sense of grammar for the "ps" part? Did someone else type the first bit? And correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't art related things be in the workshop?

I think it's awesome that you've started this thread, Tris. And I really hope you'll get a good response.
*sidenote to Kazuo_Kiriyama:
I don't think this thread belongs in The Workshop... Of course, I could be wrong, but this isn't specifically about the art; it's about discussing Peace and War in order to inspire art. *shrugs* Correct me if I'm wrong so I'll know for future reference.
Now...
I, personally, have entirely too much to say about "Peace and War", so I suppose instead of trying to make a big ol' boring rant, I'll just start by addressing what's already been brought up: "war is unfair".
Who is war unfair to? Think about everyone that war effects, and ask yourself if they really get what they deserve out of it. Honestly, who does deserve any of this? And who's to say whether or not they truly deserve it? And for anyone who thinks that war is (to put it simply) pointless: Do you honestly believe that our past wars have done nothing effective? That they were stupid because all they accomplished was reducing our population?
Hmmm... I'd rather think about peace anyhow. It warms my heart when people can set aside mudane crap in order to co-exist with their fellow man. Community service is a thing of beauty. People of different ages, races, orientations, and lives... Working together to help other people who don't have the resources to properly help themselves.
Selflessness. Respect. Courtesy. Compassion. Love.
Sorry if none of this makes sense. I've been way out of my element lately. I just wanted to offer something, despite how useless it may be. Haha.

I'm very lucky as I come from a peaceful country. We don't really go near war. So peace for me is pretty much everyday living, and I really appreciate that, knowing that we are not a threat to anyone, cos nobody bothers with us anyways.
And as for war. I don't agree with it. It means to me - destruction, depair and great sadness.
Thats all I can think of hun. Not much I know.

Not to be the jerk here, but where's the conversation, people? It's awesome that some of you have posted pictures, but... Where's the text? If you're going to post a picture of something that represents peace or war in your eyes, then please share your thoughts/feelings behind these images. Otherwise, this thread DOES belong in The Workshop... I think it's great that people are posting, but where's the significance?
Sidenote to MS_shock: Thanks for sharing your artwork. =)
I'll be stopping in again... I hope by then, there's going to be some intelligent conversation taking place here. And if not... Well, those of you who know me, know that it just may result in me causing up a stir...

I have a question for you, which of the to would you prefer? That Saddam would still rule your country or the war? When was your life better? Oh, and please note in your answer if you supported Saddam or not. Just interested to know, that's all.
........
On topic- I think war is sometimes necessary. Yes, it causes misery and deaths on both sides, but sometimes it's the only way.
Take Iran for example, do you really think they give a fuck about all the international sanctions talks the UN likes to wave in their face every other second? They really couldn't care less, and in the meanwhile they're getting closer by the hour to a nuclear bomb. This can only be resolved like what Israel did in Syria half a year ago- one military strike, bombed the nuclear core, and that's it.

Well both sound horrible but at least we didn't have people killed for no reason every second when he was around, at least we weren't on the news every sec when he was around, so i guess i'd choose him, bad is better than worse. I did not support him, he was a cruel leader and controlled every aspect of our lives.
