READ IT!

After thinking it through I have reached a conclusion in regards to the current state of the Linkin Park Message Board (LPMB). The common consensus has now for some time been clearly defined. As such, all those involved will with a proper understanding agree that the functionality and upkeep of this board has become severly compromised. This is now where responsibility comes into play. As the staff of this messageboard you were given a job description that as a whole is limited in what you are actually required to do. As such it would then beg to ask the question, why is nothing being done? Has the simple task of message board moderation become such a great burden that you can simply no longer endure the approximate 20-30 minutes it would take each day to close threads, ban rule breakers, and enforce the rules that you were entrusted to uphold the standards of? Has life become such a struggle that you can no longer find the time in your daily schedule to take these 20-30 minutes to do that which was set upon you? We would like to believe that these hypothetical situations are the likely choice, however, it comes down to a very simple point. What ever the case may be, what ever the reasoning, it comes down to the fact that nothing is currently being done on this board (with the exception of what is done by one person, who is unjustly put into the postion to uphold what seven people were given the task of doing). All reasoning aside, I now (as one voice) implore each and every one of you (with the exception being one - who already knows who she is) to do what I would deem to be the right thing to do. If common practice has become such a burden of tribulation it presents but one option. RESIGN!

For far too long now we as a whole have sat back and watched what was once glorious fall through the cracks into the deepest of darkest holes. I am rightfully sickened by the complete and utter disregard for responsibility on this board. When a person is given a job it is expected that they do their job as such. If unable to do so they must be man or woman enough to admit this and thus someone with the ability should be put in their place. It perhaps would seem that too much is being said of a subject that has constantly been beaten into the ground, but it requires repeating. I speak for myself, and myself alone, but I would venture to say that many will agree with me when I bring to light one fact. The LPMB as a whole has been around in one shape or form for over seven years. In the seven years that this board has been around I know of many people who have developed serious friendships, relationships, and good memories from their time here. As this is the case it can only be said that what once was is now severly lacking. The blame for this is not in the users. An army can not function with out a commander. A shop does not exist without a foreman. A house can not be built with out a general contractor. A message board does not do well with out a moderation staff. The fault lies in you.

Now, the point is this. The way I see it there are only a few options to be had. 1. Realize that what is to be done here is now best left in the hands of someone more capable. (Resign). 2. Continue to do nothing and be removed by force. 3. Make an actual effort to show results and for that matter actually make an appearance.

Let it be known, if I must I will make it a point to harass and abuse the free time of one Naveen Jain until results are seen. Furthermore, with the proper go ahead I will by all accounts use the remainder of my time here to create a massive shit storm the likes of which this board has never seen. After 110 different circumstances have led to my banning you know as well as I that I most certainly have it in my power to do just that. The choice is yours.

You have been warned.

Liz for ADMIN 2008. But only if she actually wanted the job.

That is all.

maybe new moderators who don't give a fuck about the board would help to make the board less full of crap. but since the admins chose new mods, wouldn't that help either.

EDIT:
what if we chose some people who are "assistant mod" or something like that? we chose a person and that person can for example: not close threads but say that the girl/boy has to close it because of any reason. and if nobody rebels against the assistant mods, it could be a nice solution to make this boards more livable....

You make it sound like they're getting paid for being a mod.

So you do care at least a tiny amount about these boards, Mick, to give us a great 'speech' like that ;) How very moving.

I was going to say, these boards are 'pretty much' looking after themselves, with some people stopping wrong forum/random/already made threads in their tracks most of the time. What other things do we need... people banning- well the only person I've seen worth (whilst I've been here) is possibly happyday? But all they did was cause a glimmer of humour.
Title giving...? Sticky threading...?

But then again, we have not had (not that I have noticed/witnessed anyway) someone spamming the place with pictures of porn or similar. Not that I want to give anyone ideas.... :-p

You make it sound like they're getting paid for being a mod.

They took up a responsibility by choice, that they have reneged on.

I have seen no 'I no longer a mod' threads, which I would expect. We got one (kinda like that anyway) when Chris was made a mod. It doesn't take a lot of effort. Then again, as Mick said, neither does coming on here for half an hour a day.

And what are the chances of Wendy and Justin reading this thread?

(I would love for them to both prove me wrong. I MISS THEM)

Pure_Ainmhi

I don't think there's much to be done really. Maybe move a few threads here or there. I know in the past week or so Liz has banned two people so I dunno what more there is to do.

and this right here is exactly why this board has become a glimmer of hope. complete lack of understanding in regards to how this place is suppose to be moderated. if you're picky about it there's actually quite a bit that needs to be done.

To be fair if they don't mod the boards then they're not gonna read this, are they?

I think your point was pretty well put across, and I agree to a certain extent. Now I don't hate the boards. Infact over the past two months or so I've been using it a hell of alot more. But the thing that irritates me most is the amount of flaming. There seem to be alot more arguing or unecessary snide remarks.

Ooookay then :p.

Well thanks for acknowledgement =P. I don't want to be an admin, but thanks for thinking of me anyway.

Natalie is still listed as a mod and she DID resign from it. 3 years ago. The powers that be, that is Sparkart, have never removed her mod priviliges. Chris did too, I think. Again, Sparkart did nothing. They're the ones that give out the "mod status" or whatever you want to call it, not Wendy and Justin as far as I know. I wish you all the luck in the world trying to get a response from Sparkart about this. You'll need it.

On the offchance that they do actually read this, by not letting us log in automatically and having a stupid thing that signs you out after not doing anything for a minute, links to reported posts are redundant. When I click on them, I'm logged out. Then I log back in to look at it and the damn thing disappears and then I repeat the whole thing...blah blah blah.

i'm pretty sure natalie didn't resign. obviously she doesn't want to carry on anymore but i don't ever remember her telling me she resigned. she tried logging in a few weeks ago but her account has been deleted or whatever has happened to most of the accounts.

the temptation to actually have sparkart removed from their position of power on this board gets to be overwhelming sometimes. i'm also sickened by the fact that 99.9% of the board couldn't be bothered to read my little rant. bastards.

Nice rant btw, future father of my children. If you weren't leaving I'd say we should be mods - we'd whip this place into shape.

I fully understand that this was a complete waste of time and effort, but as has been said before, the effort it took to think about it and then post was very minimal (as is always the case). Typically this becomes evident for someone such as myself. You see, with a proper education OH THE PLACES YOU SHALL GO. THE THINGS YOU SHALL DO. IT'S AMAZING! That would basically be a way of saying that long rants filled with truth become nearly effortless to post when you have the ability to read beyond that of what is written by Dr. Seuss.

Anyway, if we want to get to the point we can now pretty much say that the LPMB is infact doomed. I've accepted this, everyone else should as well. So through that understanding... what's to stop me from creating a massive hysteria and panic? Is it too much effort to do that? Hmm, the world... may never know.

P.S. - Emma your offer to father your children is flattering, but I must warn you that I have no desire to create a living, breathing version of myself. Children are in my humble opinion the scourge for everything wrong I've ever done in my life. I don't see myself wanting to endure that form of punishment. However, I will accept no strings attached sex, and a box of cupcakes.

Also, I'd never wish upon myself the title of mod or admin of the LPMB. Truth be told, I'd just abuse my power and ban each and every single last one of you. That is all.

If our problem here is apathetic mods, threatening them with flaming and chaos really isn't going to do the trick.

I don't blame them. This place is a shithole. Who would want to mod it anyway?

110
08-04-2008, 11:12 AM
did i really come off as being concerned about the apathy of the mods? hmm, oh well yes i suppose i did. no, truthfully i was just testing the waters. this is more along the lines of making the experience painful for everyone else i deem worthy of pain.

what ever happened to the good old days of dog pile on the morons?

Temperance

I completely agree with you. However, I also see the futility of trying to make this a better place. We all do what we can (and by "all" I mean the people who know what this place can be capable of).

I've got a better idea. Lets blow it up. OR I can check to make sure Naveen is still currently using the same screename on AIM and proceed to give it out to each and every single person here in a massive shit storm that will continue to flood his desktop with messages about the lack of administration and functionality on this board.

I'd imagine it would be something on par with that of tubgirl. Anyone remember tubgirl? Do I need to refresh some memories? Hmm? Little URL posting action needed on the LPMB? Maybe in the Linkin Park subforums? Would that be good? Oh, I dunno.

It's quite beautiful actually. Naveen hates being bothered with anything that doesn't seem to further increase his bank account balance. So by that token this should be quite amusing if infact it's done properly.
