View Full Version : Do Americans hate the rest of the world ?!

Joannam88
07-30-2008, 01:15 PM
OK, I'm serious about this! I'm wondering what could make USA citizens hate the others (or some of the nations). I'm 75% sure that half of the population hates (let's say) us. Especially countries like mine! I'm not proud of my country but it could be worse. Help me firgured it out!

Reason To Post: Not bored. Always wondered, just remembered about it now. Or probably the ispiration still holds me.

P.S.: If you're gonna mock me again don't make efforts.

Every country has people that hate other countries/races, and they have people that don't. All American's aren't the same, you can't judge them as a whole.

Americans hate the rest of the world? Not all of Americans ( I think )
So do you hate Americans? I don't hate them ( maybe 'coz I don't know much 'bout them )
If u'r American, tell everyone what do u think.

America more or less has a fuckton of sway in the world. It also just so happens the past decade or so America has fucked some stuff up.

That may have something to do with it.

I don't hate anyone. I can say that I don't LIKE some ppl (politician matters) but I don't hate them.

And if it isn't obvious, I'm not american, I'm from Bulgaria.

I'm American and I don't like Americans. Most of the ones I've met are assholes or loud and annoying.

I miss my friends from studying abroad, I fit in with them a lot better.

But you know what, I was really off put at how rude the british kids were that I met. They were so rude to me for no reason, they barely even knew me. Oh well, this one boy was an idiot and decided to hangout with this cow of a girl who had no reason to think she was so great, and not me simply because she was also from England. The whole thing was stupid.

I think it's ridiculous that you can say that half the population of Americans hate other countries. What do you base this on? As an American, I don't hate any other countries. There are things I dislike about other countries, but there are plenty of things I dislike about my own country too.

I'm the same way.

But no, not ALL Americans hate the rest of the world. I don't know how you can talk for all of us and just assume.

But like Flames_Go_Higher said, I know some of the ones that ones that DO hate, hate mostly because everyone hates us.
But I can't speak for them.
So who knows

its simple. a large percentage of the population of ALL countries are morons. and because they have nothing better to do, they hate each other, kill each other and do all kinds of fun stuff.
most americans dont hate other countries. they just look down on them or pretend they dont exist. do you know how many times people have told me that im cool "for a german" or funny "for a foreigner" without any mean intend? americans are raised in the belief that they and they're country are better than others. its not their fault really, its your surroundings that make you who you are. but once you become a grownup and understand your surroundings, you can manipulate them and change waht you dont like. only most people (in all countries) dont understand this or simply dont give a shit.

LOL, that is true. my husband called me today for the first time in months, and when i started talking to him (in english for the first time in months) i was actually suprised by how soft my voice sounded. i hate speaking german. its such an awkward language. english is so much smoother. i guess thats weird considering i grew up speaking german. but oh well. i bet its a PITA to learn tho.

Hmmm...i'm American. I don't hate other countries.
Americans who hate other countries usually are raised that way, because of past conflicts that may have affected their families.
Like a German or Japanese bias because of WWII. Things like that.

I hear though, that the French could be a bit nicer. o_o

I'm American and I don't hate any other country. Honestly, I don't have the energy to hate another country. While I was in Europe, I stayed in the Netherlands but visited Germany. In my experience (which was only with one particular crowd -- ironically a Linkin Park concert), the Germans weren't very nice. The Dutch were extremely nice. HOWEVER, I stayed in the Netherlands for nearly a month and got to experience lots of people in lots of different settings, which I did not get with the Germans. That said, I don't HATE or even DISLIKE any country.

German people seem to be very arrogant, but the world champion cup 06 showed that Germans are very friendly folk. You just were at a concert what means absolute nothing. It was just a certain group of people.

It would be very lame reason to hate a country because of a certain group of people aka german LP fans =P

I've known many Chinese who have imigrated to Canada instead of the U.S because they think Americans tend to look down at them. Many Chinese-Americans call themselves 'American' instead of 'Chinese' because they do not want to be mocked. There is still that 'racist' thing today; in my school, I notice that each race only hangs out with those of the same race. My background is Chinese, and if anyone asks I'd say I am Chinese. I know tons of Chinese born Americans who actually mock their own country, China. That really pisses me off.

Sorry for going off topic. :(

Yeah, I agree. On the mutant fish thread, there some people saying "That guy in middle looks weird" "funny looking" "stares weird" I'm not directly quoting, but you get the idea, the Indians looked "funny" and to me I find that pretty offensive. Personally it kinda makes angry a little too.

I have a LOT of family in Mexico, and they look like that. It's called the WORLD. People in the world look different from each other, is it such a surprise of how an Indian man looks, and that its ok to think that's it's funny? I can name names since I'm that offended, but I won't do that for now.

Maybe that's why some people hate America and some Americans (NOT all) hate other countries. Because a lot of people are too stupid and close-minded to understand how the world works around them and make useless assumptions and generalizations, and that "linkin park is enough" blablabla. I LOVE Linkin Park, but come on! That doesn't make me ignorant and focused on one thing.

I thank God for my good education, that I'm not some dumbass teen awaiting for some new MTV reality show to occupy my life.

If some stuff doesn't make sense, forgive me, I'm in a hurry to my next class right now, hehe.

Well, it's something you can't generalize.

I'm from Italy and with the States i have a Love & Hate relationship.
Like, there are aspects i love about them and aspects i can't really understand.
But like a whole i can't say i hate them at all.
And so do they i guess. :)

I do the same with my country (though the Hate percentage is bigger than the Love one :p).

Here's my contribution to this thread:

I don't think "Americans" hate other countries. I think there are individuals who hate other races.
You have to understand where and how certain individuals are raised. Hate is something you have to learn.
There are different ideals, religions, and cultures just in the US alone. It hasn't always been that way, but for at least a century several different races have lived together in the US.
If you look at it from a goverment standpoint, in another country, it must look as if the US hates the rest of the world. Government is a very powerful thing and that is why the US is such a powerful country. If you get deep into that idea, yes the populous votes on a leader, but remember, it only takes a one percent difference to decide. That means 49 percent out of 100 still have different ideas. Making up that 49 percent could be undecided voters, non-voters, opposing voters, lost ballets, etc.
For me, being American, it is difficult to see hate from anywhere. I grew up in a small town in the ghetto. I was the only "white" girl in the neighborhood. I was attacked and beaten all through elementary school. My parents were racist. I chose not to be. I have no prejudice against any race or religion. I have friends of every color, shape, sexuality...you name it. I love the Human Race. I don't care what country you hail from. We are people, and we should love who we are.

Americans are conditioned from a very young age to believe that the USA is the greatest country on the planet... our kids recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school every morning, for example. and, especially since the September 11th attacks, there are American flags EVERYWHERE.

HA, i agree 100% Germans are real assholes when it comes to concerts. most of the concerts ive been to here in germany, people just give you rude stares and push you around. however, germans in general arent that bad. at least i know im not. im usually very nice to people, even if i dont have any reason to be. but please forgive my fellow germans for being pissy, they probably had to walk to the venue because they couldnt afford the gas.
