Dear members of the LPMB, you suck

Tonight I signed on and saw threads such as, "What did you eat last?", "What is your fav (sic) colour?", "Watch this closely..." and "Man, what happened? Ver. Who the fuck cares". That last thread appeared not once, not twice but fucking thrice. Even though one was a parody.

In short, this place is rubbish. Absolute garbage. I signed on tonight and had the most fun I've had in ages fucking trolling. TROLLING! And I loved it. I rarely troll, I did so because this place offers no entainment whatsoever anymore. It used to be a place of congregation, people I loved and loved to talk to were here every day. I even met a whole bunch of them. 7 of them to be exact, if not more, and they were awesome people.

Nowadays, you people have no substance. You're boring and one-dimensional and it pains me. I miss the old days so much. The people here are nothing but post whores who continually bump useless threads with no value.

Then there are people like Rob1 who say "oldschool! oldschool!", but postwhore like a bitch, demand heaps of attention and have copious amounts of posts after one fucking year. Then demands threads about them and hang around like a bad fucking smell. Grow the fuck up. Beforehand I was worried about saying this because of the backlash I might get from proper oldschoolers that I respect that like him but then I realised that it shouldn't bother me at all. They're just people over the fucking internet. Fuck. Most of the people I respected and cared for in this place are gone apart from a bare few, who know who they are.

What pains me the most is that the most fun I've had here in the past year is by trolling. It shouldn't be like that at all. Ever, but I guess I was wrong. I used to be able to spend nights here, entire nights, responding to threads that had value and weight but now this is what I get? Fuck that.

I know this wont get to anyone, I'm sure, but I dont care. This place has gone to shit and you all know it. Stop trying to care about it. The band dont, Sparkart dont, the mods (apart from Liz, nice work by the way, I applaud your stamina) dont and most of the people who care dont. I never thought I'd see people like Ash, Emma or others troll but this is what they're reduced to because of this place.

it's unfortunate that there aren't any (or at least a few) threads which require some in depth discussion. i have a few threads which i stick to and post in, and yes i'll admit, some of them are ridiculous, however at times i have caught myself thinking i wish there were threads with more "substance" in which i could post in.

in all fairness, with the age differences and the amount of IQ (or lack of in some cases) people have, not everyone is going to be too worried about threads with substance.

this is not to say i'm having a go at you, quite the opposite, i think it was a bold move standing up and speaking your mind, and as mentioned, at times i quite agree with your thoughts about the boards.

i suppose this is the one good thing about the internet, you can simply just get up and walk away from it, if you feel the need to. it's true as you said, you can make wonderful friends off here, but a majority of people you won't ever know/meet so why should you have to put up with their shit, right?

Dont get me wrong, I dont mean to troll or shit all over threads with any substance. Dont shy away from smart conversation, it's just what these boards need. If you create a meaningful thread with a good topic, you should never be criticized for it, that's the last thing I want.

Alot of the people on this board should accept that you're right on most of things you've written. But like you said, the message getting out to the people who's main posts contain 'LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL roflcopt3r iz aw3som3' is pretty unlikely. That said, there are alot of variations in people who use these boards, and there should be something for everyone, but there is a huge lack of discussion (or half way decent) threads that people can post in.

Times have changed. I can't speak for what this board was like years ago, as i only recently joined. But like the rest of the world, things do change. And exactly like the 'real' world the internet has followed and most probably declined. In my opinion anyway. And seen as these boards are supposed to be a community, every village has its idiot(s). Unfortunately it seems to be in the plural in this board.

A huge majority of the people on this board are sick and tired of the superficial shite that ends up as threads filling up the boards. I'm not going to pretend i don't post shit most of the time, because i do. I normally stick to a couple of threads, and am just bemused by the rest of the crap people bless the boards with. The simple fact is there isn't any substance or threads for people to post in. And in the rare times that a decent thread is posted, it dies before most people have time to see it.

I hope at least some of this post makes sense, it has been a long time that i've had to use more than about 50 characters, and i thank you for that. And i hope you don't leave this place forever, we need some people to save us from the 'what are you eating' threads.

I am in complete agreement with you. That very reason is where a lot of the "old schooler vs. everyone else" came from. It's the very reason why I convinced Kieran to make a comeback (although it was all too brief). It has gotten a bit better, but mostly because a few of the post whores got scared away by the confrontations in the Barracks. Is there a solution for it? In a perfect world, yes. But as you pointed out, this is the internet, and everyone is going to post what they want. I'm to the point where I have to ignore 98% of what is posted. It sucks, and I'm pissed that it can't be as great as it used to be. I realize this response had been all over the place, and I apologize for my lack of clarity. I've gotten about an hour of sleep in the last 3 days (newborn, woohoo!) so I'm rather out of it.
Just sum it up to say I totally agree with you, and I wish it didn't suck so horribly.

i've seen the exact same thing happen on other sites (thats why i'm here more than there now, all my friends left because of some huge fight that broke out, it got so bad that the member that started it started calling people at home and at work, harrassing them, threatening them and much more. we were a pretty tight knit community before that) and the site im talking about is completely different from this one in every aspect, except maybe, that there's idiots there too.

I used to spend ALL of my free time here on the LPMB and in the LPCR. This place was, as lame as it sounds, like home. The people that I talked to on here were amazing. Unfortunately, I have since lost contact with most of them.

When I first came here, I was young. I probably got on the nerves of some people, and I apologize for doing so. However, I do miss the meaningful discussions that used to take place here.

I wish I could sign on one day and everything would be back to the way it was in 2001-2003. But, that will never happen. :(

you and I have both been here forever and so, even though we've never really talked, I agree with you pretty wholeheartedly. there used to be a lot of interesting people here, true. in my opinion, among internet forums like this, that was an anomaly and we were lucky to have been involved.

problem is, those interesting people were only one subdivision of this forum. the postwhores were here too, but we never noticed them because we had something else to focus on. and that something else has since packed up and left.

still, I think there are a few diamonds to be found in this coal mine. but you've said to Helen that you aren't really interested in finding them.

you know, i havent been around for very long so i dont know how things used to be, but every attempt at serious discussion i've made here, failed miserably. if you try to say anyting as a noob here, you get attcked or belittled by the so called old schoolers, so i pretty much stay out of the barrack altogether unless im really bored, then im not above sharing what i had for breakfast...

Those threads aren't discussions. They're a way for people to get their post counts up. Besides, all of them could just be put in SWOYM anyway.

I'm quite new here and have been very reluctant to reply to some threads because I see a lot of the "old schoolers" posting. I've seen a lot of disgust coming from the old schoolers towards new people, hence my hesitation.
When I first joined I saw some of the signatures with "old schoolers, assemble" I was thinking 'sweet' because I'm 30 (which I'm figuring is very old school compared to some of the younger people here lol). I thought it would be a nice way to get to know some people here that were on my age/maturity level. However, clicking on the signature took me to a thread that made me realize it's an elitist group. I wouldn't be welcome there, either.
So where am I left? I'm left to read posts that are moving. It's my only way to get to know anybody. I'm totally left feeling like I shouldn't even bother with you old schoolers because you wouldn't have me - not because I wouldn't try.
I have substance, but I feel I have to get to know people slowly through the goofy or simple threads.
Anyway, that's my rant and two cents. I'd love to get to know people here, but being new here I hope you get where I'm coming from. It's hard to jump into someone's little clique.

I'm sorry that you misinterpreted that. to be fair though, a lot of people are very welcoming here. most of the people in that old-schoolers thread, I didn't know until some seven weeks ago. and I just jumped in and said hello. that's all it takes, friend! and by the way, I'm just about 28, so I understand your pain. ;)

B) The people I did "hang out" with (as far as one can on the 'net) may have been those with IQ's of peanuts, but as was previously stated, only because there was no intelligent conversation going on. I mostly stuck to the "humor" threads (The Chuck Shinoda thread, "Mike stop lurking and post dammit", etc), because those were the only places I felt welcome.

If anyone has seen my previous posts, it does seem I'm a "n00b" with the IQ of said peanut, but I won't repeat what's already been repeated. I'll also go ahead and admit to my own stupidity: I'm capable of ENGAGING in such a conversation, just not STARTING one.

I never thought I'd be posting here again. Most of you probably don't even remember me, but I was §piral/::Fallout:: (http://archive.forums.linkinpark.com/member.php?userid=96319) a few years ago. I would've logged in on that account except that it appears to have been gobbled up by whatever abomination of a registration system is in place now. >.<

The past...I think what made this place so special to the people that were on it was that it mattered to so many people. At least for me, this was the first forum I ever joined...where I made my first online friends. I remember the first summer I was on here, where topics would have hundreds of replies in a day. Usually it was just from friends conversing with each other, or chatting on some random topic. I remember there were all sorts of fun topics and people would make one to announce they were going to bed, or to discuss what they had for lunch. There was alot of spam, alot of pointless topics then too, but back then it was fun. Maybe it was because you were doing it with your friends...it wasn't about what you were talking about, it was about what the people you were talking about it with.

Or maybe that was just me. Who knows? But I do know that at the time this place mattered to many people. At least for myself and most of the people I talked with at the time...during the summer the first thing we'd do is come on here, chat with friends, and see what new stuff had been posted. During the rest of the year we did that as soon as we got home from school (this WAS a long time ago...or seems to be >.<). For better or worse, at the time coming on here and talking to each other was the best part of our day. And it must've been the same for others too, cause why else would they have spent so much time on here?

Now...well, I haven't been here in three years, so I can only guess at what's gone on. Maybe some people left from drama as I did, and maybe some people moved on. Maybe some people kept in contact with friends made here by other means and no longer needed to be on here to talk with them, or maybe they drifted apart like I have with the people I used to talk with on here. Maybe this place just jumped the shark and outlived the great community it once hosted. Who am I to say after being gone for so long?

But it's been fun reminiscing. :)

There's only two reasons veterans still post here, even if occasionally: Nostalgia and the people they know.

The latter is dwindling away day by day, either due to no one they know being here or being unable to reregister or log in to their old account (I know three that have had that problem), and the former is wearing pretty thin.

I was just saying that the filler/substance ratio is lopsided in favor of the filler and the filler stuff here won't help anyone be inclined to post. And that's regardless of the big fat meanies who post here.

I mean, they were still around when *I* first registered and it didn't really stop me or whoever else from registering. It's not like vets just suddenly became dicks to newbs. They were around when I first registered here, they were around before and after the whole Naveen bullshit, and they're still here too, to some extent. The first six months or so I was here I stuck to the Linkin Park forums. I would probably have to agree with that, to be honest.

There's nothing too exciting about postwhoring... I only do so when Im bored to s stage that I would need to destroy something to keep myself occupied, i.e. not very often.
