If you ask me, LP should actually record Phoenix for some backing vocals in their next studio album. Anybody agree?

Well, all the members allegedly DID record vocals for Hands Held High's "Amen" chorus. I think I can hear Phoenix in there, there's a couple thirds that are a tiny bit out of tune and it sounds like his voice. Not bashing him for being out of tune or anything, it just makes that one voice stand out from the rest. Various band members can also be heard in the "party" in the background of Bleed it Out.

As for Phi's live vocals, meh. It's nice that they're using him to fill out the sound when there's more than 2 vocal parts, and I think they could actually utilize him in a couple older songs as well (the ending part of Papercut comes to mind). I don't think he's anything special though. He's just a guy who can fit the bill as a backing vocalist when necessary. He did so in The Snax as well.

i didnt know that all the members did the Amen part in HHH. that clearly is the best part of the song. how can they be so good at once

Personally, I always wanted Phoenix to do the harmony part with Chester during "Valentine's Day" when Mike starts the verse lines under Chester's "On a Valentine's Day ...". Hell, Mike at least should do the harmony part before moving to the verse lines. Ha. That's what they do on "The Little Things Give You Away" and I think it'd work perfectly on "Valentine's Day". Phoenix is just a winning solution. :D

I don't know, without the harmony, the part just sounds empty.

But, what Phoenix sings live is like the bass parts he does; you're not meant to really hear or notice it but you'd notice it if it wasn't there. ;) Nonetheless, he sounds great on "Hands Held High".

On another note, I never really liked them opening the encore with "The Little Things Give You Away".

Phoenix is awesome :D

Could a mod merge this with the official Phoenix thread, if you don't mind?

Don't they? Makes more sense for six singers to sing together than higher a choir, ya know? I originally thought it was Chester with some backing vocals from Mike, until someone on here told me it was all of them.

I just like to give other members of the bands credit for their work. Most people usually talk about Mike and Chester but I find it good to make the other members of the band get more attention that they deserve for their outstanding work. Along with Mike and Chester.

He sings the "Little things give away" phrase from the higher tone right?

Yeah he does. He does it a little bit too quiet though since he is not used to singing at concerts. But he is improving.

It's awesome when Chester, Mike, and Phoenix are all singing together. There's some awesome 3-part harmony. ^^ It'd be great if they could incorporate some of that into the next album! :p

ooh ha! D:< Phi's voice is win!

I once had a recording of just Phoenix's part in Little Things, and it was pretty damn good. He's still a little shy live, but I noticed a difference from Janurary to now. He has potential.

well...on the booklet of meteora in the last written page, there was written "BACKING VOCALS BY: ROB BOURDON, BRAD DELSON, JOSEPH HAHN, AND PHOENIX", and on the MTM booklet in the first black page there is "Background vocals by Brad Delson, Mr. Hahn, Rob Bourdon and Phoenix"

so i think they actually did some backing vocals for the albums....

Well Hands Held High's "Amen" parts were from all the LP members combined and for Meteora I'm not too sure at this moment and I'm too tired to think.

That's not true. Saying that all the members contributed vocals helps ensure that they all recieve equal royalties for each song. All the vocals on Hybrid Theory and Meteora are Chester and Mike. LP aren't the only band that do that either, if you look in the credits for Breaking Benjamin's albums, all the members are credited with backing vocals even though Ben does all the vocals himself.
