Anyone who gets an abortion for reasons other than what we've gone over, should get her tubes tied. If you don't want THAT baby, then you don't get to have another...
*waits for it*
You may as well castrate the guy too if he agrees with the abortion so he can't get another girl pregnant

It only takes about six weeks for the baby to have a heartbeat... For some women, a prenancy test won't show up positive during the first missed period...
i know that i said i think it should be done before 6 weeks but definitely not past 3 months..
and i have never heard of it not being positie after first missed period... if you are still not getting your perios keep taking tests and one should come up positive

I don't know where people get this misconception that every woman who gets an abortion is just "lol whatever dead baby" about it. It's not an easy choice to make and it's traumatic and the woman has to live with it for the rest of her life. If she's prepared for that, who are we to try and make her feel even more guilty about it?

I agree that women don't sit and have a hearty laugh about.
PS - Just thought that I should let you all know. I've never said that I think that abortion should be ILLEGAL. I'm pro-life, BUT, it's the mother's choice. Personally, -I- would never get an abortion from the things that it does. However, I have friends that have had abortions and I do not condemn any of them for it.
Anyway. I'm done with this thread for now. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and I don't want to debate anymore right now. Gotta find something to do. It's Saturday, baby!
Nice chatting with you all :) *huggles* <33

That's a bit of a contradiction you got into Liquorice. You say abortion is wrong but then say you would gladly kill someone. Isn't that the same thing overall. Stick to one opinion.

great posts...it's great seeing so many people interested.
i saw some red-state / blue-state concerns. i think: if you want to vote one way, but you live in a state that usually votes the other way, you have even more reason to vote: to make the minority voice heard. after all, look at the democratic race right now. it's so close, every vote counts.
also, i put rules on this thread when i started it. i forgot to mention that if you don't follow them, you will grow armpit hair on your teeth and you will be forced to smell and taste your own stink forever.
and lastly, thanks again for the b-day wishes.
maybe: if you have an opinion, vote. if you don't have an opinion, do your homework to get one, then go vote.

You know...I was just sitting here thinking about that armpit hair thing. And it got me to thinking...
Where the Hell do you come up with stuff like that?
And then. I stuck my tongue out to lick my lips and I felt a piece of hair on my mouth. And then I sat here for a moment thinking, "Holy shit. What the fuck just happened?" And then I realized it was a piece of hair from my pillow that had gotten too near to my mouth.
So, for a moment, I truly thought that I had been cursed. Added onto the fact that it's about 3:40am here.

I managed to forget about Iraq in my last post... does anyone actually think that we should stay there? After five years of war the U.S. really cannot claim that they have accomplished much. It's frustrating that so many lives have been lost and billions of dollars wasted. Given a Democrat makes it to the White House, I hope that we swiftly withdraw from Iraq and stop this nonsense of starting a war with Iran. There is no reason for our country to continue assuming the role of world police.

we can't post properly on your blog cause the character limit is way shorter. and the conversation is more interesting on here.
that said, there's also the part where the US are one of the most, if not the most, influencial country in the world. anything you guys do affects a big part of the world, if not all. whoever will get in the White House knows he's actually ruling with more than just the US. so why not care what people outside the your country knows about it? wouldn't you want to know what an Iraqi civilian thinks of the US, or even a Chinese civilian? think of how they feel towards the States, really.
also, for anyone that don't want to vote, there's a way to vote without voting: just put crosses or Xs or whatever you need to do everywhere. it's called: cancelling your vote. that way, you did vote: you said all the people on your paper were fucking crap, or they're all as good as the other. one way or another, you just made your choice as a citizen, a choice that not that much people in this world has. and that way, no one's going to steal your vote too (there was a journalist here that went and voted about like 5 or 6 times under different names. and i live in fucking canada).
point proven about the character limit of mike's blog posts thing, and props to anyone that indeed posted in here. it's one of the first good threads i've seen on here in a fucking long while.
I definetly agree on that one
Dude, seriously, I'm not trying to be mean, and call you out, but I have to.
You are bothering the SHIT out of me. If you think that threads 'suck' and 'are boring,' why in the name of all that is holy are you reading and/or posting in them??
It sort of defeats the purpose of thinking that something sucks.
If you think that posting is going to make the thread cooler, sorry. The people who care about the thread are going to ignore your comment (except me of course. I'm a bitch. What can I say? :)) and then it's pointless.
Also, if you think that posting in here is going to make Mike pay any more attention to you, HA.
Sorry about that.
BACK TO THE ISSUE AT HAND.
(By the way, the way I number these doesn't necessarily reflect the place that I put them on my priority list. I'm just shouting them as they come to mind and as it is *looks* 1:04 am...)
Issue #1 = Climate/Global Warming
What the Hell is with this shit? "Global warming doesn't exist." MY ASS. Okay. Let me say this. Yes, global warming exists, but not necessarily the way that Al Gore says we go about it. I think the Earth has natural cooling and heating cycles. But fuck, we sure aren't helping the situation any. You can't tell me that emitting all the shit that we do isn't doing SOMETHING to the environment.
HELLO? There are pharmaceuticals in our fucking WATER. Oh, OKAY. That's not doing anything to us. Your 5 year old is just drinking the anti-depressants of the lady down the street.
That and the carbon dioxide emissions around the world are causing the Earth's temperature to go up FASTER than what it already is. And yes, this is what is causing the fucking weather disasters that we've endured in the last few years.
You know what's weird though? Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Do you know how many major hurricanes have hit that area since Katrina and Rita? You'd think it'd be a few. You know, like 2 to 4. No. 1. ONE. Uhhm? Doesn't that seem a little odd to you?
MEANWHILE -
...Uhmm? Little scary.
Moving on.
Issue #2 = The war in Iraq.
Okay. On this particular issue, I can't give even slightly well-educated answers. The only real reason I care is because my brother is fighting there. He's lost about 4 friends in the line of fire.
Here's MY thing though. Why the Hell did we go over there in the first place? Like, seriously. Bush claimed it was because of weapons of mass destruction, right (correct me if I'm wrong here. Again, I don't have a lot of info on this)? Did he find them? Erm, no? And he hung the man that was responsible for all the pain and destruction there. So, why then should we stay?
Seriously, though. How much do we REALLY hear about this damn war? Are we even succeeding over there? UGH. Enough on that. I don't want to make an ass out of myself.
Issue #3 = Our Economy
Uhm recession, anyone? Then, sadly, if that fails, more recession, anyone?! And then a depression. And fuck life, we don't have enough anti-depressants to help with that cluster.
But seriously, though. It's true. Joblessness went up. Gas and food prices went up (Gas is $3.69 a gallon here, representin'). Marketing went WAY down.
Did you know that we are JUST now paying off the damn debt that we were in from the CIVIL WAR. No joke. I'm being serious. Do you know what that means? That means that our CHILDREN'S children will be paying for THIS war.
Oh, and fuck, not to mention SOCIAL SECURITY. Baby boomers much?? This generation better start popping out some kids if we want money when we hit 60+ ^_^.
Issue #4 = Same Sex Marriage (Since everyone has been bringing it up)
I have a lot of friends who are gay. I would never even DREAM of condemning ANY of them. And anyone who does can kiss my ever-loving ass. There's nothing wrong with love. "Love knows no bounds."
What pisses me off is that someone thinks that same sex PDA is wrong and then they make out in the middle of a fucking family restaurant.
I mean, for fuck's sake. Civil unions aren't enough. That's like someone looking at you and saying, "You can play HOUSE, but you aren't good enough to be married. You're a sin and we don't want you to taint us." Well, for God's sake. It's not like looking at a gay couple is going to turn your child gay.
Remember in kindergarten when we all used to hold hands at recess? They never slapped a little boy's wrist then and said, "Stop that, someone might think you're gay." Why? Because shit like that breeds hate. And what does hate breed? VIOLENCE.
To say that a gay couple can't have the same rights as a straight couple is straight-up WRONG. What kind of free country is this?
[/rant]

My friend was THIS -> <- close to never being born!
So was I. Abortion is murder in my opinion. Deciding to have sex means that you're accepting full responsibility of your actions. There is no reason why killing an unborn child should be acceptable. There are millions of people all over the world who can't have children -- give them the chance to raise your baby and start their own family! Or else close your damn legs.
And there will always be that touchy subject of rape victims. I am not trying to sway anyone either way, but personally, I say keep the kid. Or else put your baby up for adoption once it's born. You got the chance to live, and yeah, the person who raped you is a real sick bastard, but the baby you've created isn't.

OMG, of course not. I will defend Pro-Life forever. If it weren't for my grandparents refusing to pay for an abortion or else kicking my mom out if she got one, I wouldn't be here. And yeah, she's never let me forget that this wasn't how she'd planned her life, but you know what, I'm not an oxygen-wasting loser, and I'm so glad for my life, no matter how difficult it's been being the child of a seventeen year old.
I was one of those babies with uber-young parents who were dirt poor and very quickly divorced. Where's your pro-choice arguments now, people? Don't you dare tell me I didn't deserve life. I think I came out pretty fucking victorius, and my parents are stronger people because of me.

I am voting because it is a privilege to to able to vote for who you want. I know that a lot of people don't vote because they aren't sure or lazy, and I think that it is a waste of such a gift.
I feel honored to vote because I know that there are a lot of people who wish that they had an opportunity like this, and scoff at people who simply waste it, or throw it away.

Ummm... McCain has 1,331 delegates and the Republican needs 1,191 to win. I think that's the definition of the word "clinched". .
True, but I feel one reason why McCain has gotten all the delegates is because he's the only one people know of. There is nothing out there in the media about Dr. Paul. There has hardly been anything mentioned about him since day 1, so the people are clueless.
True, but I feel one reason why McCain has gotten all the delegates is because he's the only one people know of.
...Rudy Giuliani anyone? Before the primaries started, nobody, at all, thought McCain would get the nomination.
And a lot of people knew who Ron Paul was, and for a guy who had little to no shot of getting the nod, he got quite a bit of media attention.

True, but I feel one reason why McCain has gotten all the delegates is because he's the only one people know of. There is nothing out there in the media about Dr. Paul. There has hardly been anything mentioned about him since day 1, so the people are clueless.

People know, but most of them just think he's crazy. Which he is, by the way.

That's because Ron Paul's a dip who got pwn3d pretty quick by his own lunacy.

I'll be voting, most definitely, I'm pretty young to vote since I'll be 18 by June and still be a Senior in high school, but once your legal, it's important to vote.
Especially at this time. So much crap and issues have risen since the Bush administration came into place. I don't think we ever had so many major problems arising all at once from one presidential administration in a long time, naming some: healthcare, mortgage rates, Iraq (duh), most importantly, THE ECONOMY. We've been in a rump lately, especially with the debt that we owe to other countries, especially China.
With all that in mind, I've never felt more motivated to vote than right now. So yeah, if you're a legal American, VOTE!!! cuz this is the perfect time to completely change the face of America towards a new direction.

sweet life :)
i love the thing that you're living :) *offers hugs*
i got one thing though...
when you get raped, its a sad social life you know ..
im scared to even think about it!
and its not right to leave your baby immediately after its born ... thats even worse!
so my point is, when you do get raped, don't wait to get pregnant! get to the doctor right then!
Thanks, I'm glad I'm living, too :)
It's no lie raping is disgusting. But I'd rather be a victim than a victim and a murderer -- unless I was killing the sick bastard who violated me. Yeahhhh ... that's justified. It's the innocent lives that don't deserve to be killed, you know?

to answer the thread, yes i am voting. the issues at hand that are most important to me, is the environment for one. i feel that the american lifestyle is wasteful and hurtful to the earth, and it will take a strong leader to change that. i feel that the war we are in, athough i would love to get us out in a jiffy, i don't feel that would be so wise, but to stay in there much longer isn't wise either. i feel it will take someone who knows just when and how to end this war, and i don't expect anyone to do it just right. i feel for our troops, and i support their bravery, and i want to repay them by sending them home to their families in one peice. i think that health care and education are inportant, and i think that their should be more education on health care. too many families in american don't eat right, or excrsize, and that causes more heart disease and other lifestyle related disease, which causes uneccessary rise in heath care and insurance costs. we need a leader that can get at the root of america's problems and solve them, not make conditions better. i'm just waiting for the guy to show up. peace.

so im voting for the first time this year. i want to vote, but at times i get so pissed at how politics are going that i almost dont want to bother....i dont even know who to vote for....i was goin for that alaskan dude, but he left. i liked his views. but i believe that we should leave iraq. we cant even keep our country in place, getting recalls on toys from china, illegal aliens invading us-if we cant control what is happening to our country, what makes us think we can fix iraq? then you wonder if that was even the reason going to iraq....i dont even know how to fix this country to how it was-many things are changin, and i dont know which president will help us go in a good direction. no one has stood out for me.

Okay, is anyone else saddened by all of the shit that we can so easily list of what's wrong with our country (our WORLD, even)? This thread has taken a whole new direction for me... I'm back to wanting the power to help and protect everyone. I feel now more than ever that we should all just set the mundane bull shit aside and band together to make our world a better place to live. Of course, who's to decide what's mundane and what's vital? And then, who's really willing to work their ass off to contribute to a better world - seriously? I feel fuckin' lucky to be able to volunteer my time to help people in need. But there are other people who just don't care because it doesn't directly effect them. (and I do realize that it's not easy for some people to volunteer because the cost of living is so ridiculous; I'm talking about the people who CAN help, but don't) And that's depressing... What happened to courtesy? Love? Trust? Faith? Our world's gone corrupt, and selfless people seem entirely too hard to find...
I was talking to a friend about this the other day. Because we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to help people. But most people don't feel that way. Most people feel that they're lucky to not be the one who needs help. But then, we got to thinking... It almost seems like most people don't even realize that they're lucky to not need help. Rather than being happy with all that they're so fortunate to have, they're upset about the things that they don't have...

SO IT THIS IT THEN? 32 PAGES? MIKE, IF YOU SEE THIS, I'D LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT WE OPEN THE THREAD UP TO EVERYONE - ALL AGES AND REGIONS. Maybe we'll get better feedback that way. Seems to me that there are just a couple of pages dedicated to what this thread was intended for, more pages about how underage or out of country people want to offer their input, and still more pages about random stuff like your ninja posts (yes, I realize that I've contributed to these various stray topics, but that's because nothing else is going on with this thread!). Just a suggestion hun, so that maybe we can get people back on track... After all, if it's just about why we will/won't vote, and what issues matter to us, why not open the discussion to everyone? Besides, a lot of the 18+ US residents are breaking your rules too, by stating who they'll vote for... *shrugs* Just think about it? ^_^

Of course politics is a bunch of BS. As you said, who's to say what's right or wrong? It's good you vote for propositions and such, but do you not vote for "leaders"? Because although you may find it ridiculous to choose a person to make such big decisions for our country (that essentially affect the world), someone WILL be chosen, so it's up to us to help decide who it'll be...

[/rant]
Just for the record, I told my friend I was bisexual and now she doesn't want to be friends with me anymore, and apparently her father has developed a lousy opinion of me, simply because of my sexual preference. I saw this great movie once, and a character in it made a point by saying, "Are you all afraid you'll catch his 'gay microwaves' or something?" Or words to that effect. It's like people are afraid that if their children are exposed to reality and diversity that they'll act, oh, I dunno, NORMAL. You do more harm by not telling your child about the world, than by telling your child about reality.

You're not completely powerless when it comes to voting, and the voting system you're describing right now is that used for selecting the Democratic presidential candidate. The showdown this fall involves the electoral college, which was meant to give states fair and equal representation in the elections. Granted, this system should probably be overhauled, but to say that you're completely helpless would be incorrect; if you were, NO ONE'S votes would matter.
Furthermore, not voting is a dangerous thing; if you live in a traditionally "blue" state, and you vote Democrat, it might not be big deal, but in tightly contested states you'd be gambling the nation's future. Also, even if there aren't issues important to you, what about issues affecting people you know? Whether or not an issue has immediate importance to you shouldn't matter; if there are issues to be addressed, that means that the issue is likely to affect others. In a sense, you have the ability to make sure others don't get shafted. Shouldn't you make use of this ability then?
I empathize with you with regards to the current crop of candidates, though. But even if none of them are perfect, we should still try and pick the one most capable of performing the duties required of the PotUS.
Now, addressing your statement about the US taking care of it's own business:
Prior to WWII, and I think WWI, the US was extremely isolationist. We minded our own business, and that's how we liked it. Who cares about the rest of the world, right? But who knows how things could have turned out of the US hopped into WWII sooner. Maybe the Holocaust would not have been as severe. Maybe the Soviet Union wouldn't have suffered catastrophic death tolls outnumbering the rest of the allies. If the US joined the Pacific theatre earlier, maybe the Pacific fleet wouldn't have suffered catastrophic losses at Pearl Harbor, allowing it to better fight the Imperial Navy and avoid the ghastly destruction at Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
Isolationism has it's price, and to a certain degree I understand isolationist sentiments (we certainly need to take care of our own), but any nation that stands idly by when people around the world needs help is morally bankrupt. We've tried shoving our heads in the sand and pretending the rest of the world didn't exist 50-60 years ago. It didn't work, and the rest of the world managed to remind us that they still existed. I think the key is to pick the right fights to fight; of course, this segueways into the topic of Iraq where I don't think we picked the right fight and are paying for it dearly.
Mmmf, abortion is such a tough topic. I used to be pro-abortion, no questions asked, but I've seen and heard things that got me thinking.
First of all, I can't shake the feeling that abortion is a cheap way out of parenthood, an attempt to live life without the burden of a child. Second, one of the best anti-abortion arguments I've heard is that you never know what that embryo will be capable of achieving. Regardless of what environment he or she will grow up in, there's always a chance that he or she will make it through life ok, or even better.
My current housemate is a good example of this; his parents were living out of a basement, mother pregnant with him, and in dire financial straights while trying to support two other children. They had NO money. They had driven to the hospital for the abortion on a stormy day and couldn't find parking. His dad, frustrated, said, "F*ck it, we're going home." My friend was THIS -> <- close to never being born! But you know where he is now? He and I are graduating from UC Berkeley. He's a Pre-Med student, and after taking the next year off, he will be applying to medical school. He has mentored, tutored, and taken care of so many children. Both of his older sisters have graduated from UC Berkeley as well; one is currently attending medical school, while the other is working at a biotech company.
If his parents had found parking, had gotten the abortion, this kid would have been sorely missed by the world.
Of course, you never know how your kid will turn out. It's always a gamble. But if you're good parent, I think you could raise a good kid. Then again, if you're thinking about getting an abortion, if you want it THAT badly, if you DO NOT want to be a parent... I don't know. Maybe someone won't be a great parent, because of that person's desires for themself. In that case, maybe it would be better for that person to get an abortion, because a poorly parented child isn't something I want to encounter in the world.
Lastly; I don't know if to never have lived to begin with is better than living a life of suffering. Even if someone is born with a terminal illness, living means that they have a chance to experience, at the very least, some of life's joys. Of course, the degree of severity attributed to the illness would influence the outcome of such a thought experiment.
I prefer to base my opinions on facts, rather than "she/he could grow up to be this, that, and the other". I don't like those might have, could have, maybe, arguments. They just are not substantial to me. You can think what you want, that's perfectly fine, I just disagree with you completely. Yeah, you sit in a wheelchair completely paralyzed, able to be "alive", but there are certain things that child will never know. That child will never be able to be alone, or have responsibilities over classwork at UC Berkeley, or drive a car, or have their own home, these are things everyone is entitled to, but that child won't have it. I want my kids to be able to run or wheel around in the backyard with their father and play catch, pick up their own food and put in their mouth. There is a certain element to "life" that we have all earned and deserve when we are born. If those unborn babies are supposedly God's children, and God is the creator of "life", then why are they denied such elements of living?
Edit: By the way, I'm a tad concerned that your friend's entire life was based on being unable to find a parking space. How do you look your child in the eye and say, "We are going to abort but we couldn't find any parking." It's not a matter of changing their minds, or really thinking it through, no, it was a parking space.

bringing this thread back to life..
im NOT a US citizen (yet). but my husband happens to be a US soldier, so i feel that i can maybe contribute something to this discussion. i didnt read everyone elses responses yet becuase im afraid of being logged out and having to search forever to find this thread again, so im posting first.
like i already stated, i CANT vote. what makes me sad is that, my husband wont vote because he is in iraq (he was there for the last election too) and he feels like the absentee ballots wont be counted anyway. and i guess we'll never know if he's right or not. i have talked about this to other military wives and most of us are undecided about who to vote for. this is MY main concern when it comes to politics (american politics anyway, dont even get me started on german politics...lol)
if the Republicans win, my husband will DEFINETLY go to iraq again within 15 or so months of his return (he's coming back in october) he will be stop-lossed again. and in all actuality, he has little hope of getting out of the army while Republicans rule and have the option of keeping people in the service even if its against their will. HOWEVER, they do and will continue to take good care of the military, financially and in other ways. (we still dont get paid much, but we are taken care of)
if the Democrats take over, the war would hopefully/probably end sooner. which is in everyones best interest, right? however, they would also (probably-im not psychic, i dont actually KNOW what they're gonna do) cut funding to the military, which would diretly result in lower pay, worse medical care (and they already go with the cheapest!) well, to make it short, it would make military life even harder than it already is, HOWEVER, it would also mean that people would be able to GET OUT of the military when their contract is up, rather than having to stay in for as long as the government wants them.
not that i dont care about other issues, but this is what directly affects me and what i worry about.
if i could vote, i would vote for obama. not because im particularly crazy about him, but we choose the lesser of 2 evils, dont we?
*end of speech*....:D

im assuming Mr Shinoda was trying to avoid 500000 people spamming the place up with responses like "i cant vote :( i live in.......(insert country)"
which of course achived the opposite, now people are complaining "im not a US citizen, so you dont value my opinion."
or maybe he thinks people from other countries dont follow US politics enough to build an opinion, which is easy to assume, since most AMERICANS dont follow their own politics enough to build an opinion. either way he started a cool thread and its not like he can really stop people from posting if they arent from the US. and just maybe, someone already pointed out to him that that was kinda unfair (i felt a bit discriminated, but that didnt keep me from posting MY opinion, did it?)

That's another thing, gay marriage and abortion are also important issues for me. I have this belief that everyone likes different things. If you (not you personally), don't want to be a homosexual, then don't be. Don't force your religious beliefs on another person who just wants to be happy, and don't base laws off of your religious beliefs. You have to understand that everyone in the world is different, but are all equally entitled to the same rights. So, if a woman can marry a man, she should be allowed to marry a woman as well. And if a man can marry a woman, he should be allowed to marry a man, too.
In the areas of abortion, and I know this is a very touchy subject (Why I am not totally confident in Obama), I am for abortion. There are so many different factors that go into unwanted or unexpected pregnancies. Sexual assaults, broken condoms, forgetting to take a birth control pill or the fact that BC pills are only 98% effective. There is only so much you can control, even when using protection. I'm the sort of person where I know I can't have children because of my heart murmur, and MS and diabetes runs in my family, along with heart disease. I also am obsessive compulsive, and I really don't want to give those sorts of things to a child. Am I seeking out the perfect baby? No. But I want my child to live happily. If I new my baby would be born with spinabifida (I know it's not spelled right), or would spend his or her entire life glued to a wheelchair and barely to lift their head or wipe their drool off of their face, I would not want that for my child, and if I was certain it would happen, I'd have an abortion. Death is far better than living a life without any freedom. There is a lot of honor and joy in giving birth, but there are responsibilities, even before you get pregnant. It is a person, a living thing, and that living thing is entitled to the best life it can possibly get. You can pull a religious card all you want, but the fact of the matter is, death without suffering out-ways a life of turmoil.
iknow this is an old thread, but still:
ive read all the posts on this thread up to this point, withstanding the urge to quote anyone and respond to what they said (some outstanding posts on here, make me proud to hang out on this page with such cool & smart peeps) this post here is really good to, but this line made me laugh (i know this is off subject and i apologize!). not to belittle the poster, but you surely have not given birth yourself. because, joy and honor are definitely not among the words i would use to describe my childbirth experience. ;)
other than that, i agree with you wholeheartedly.

im assuming Mr Shinoda was trying to avoid 500000 people spamming the place up with responses like "i cant vote :( i live in.......(insert country)"
Oh really? Isn't presuming that all that a foreigner or a person below the age of 18 is able to say is ""i cant vote :( i live in.......(insert country)", etc. kind of mean?

My cousin's from Ohio and I don't think he's voting, 'cause it doesn't matter for him, he leaves here in Poland. I guess the rest of my family supports McCain (I would vote for Barack, but okay).

Yes and no.
Yes, because it's presumptuous. I, myself, have found that people from other countries, though younger than me, have very good opinions. They know how to speak their minds and do it well.
No, because it's what happened. A bunch of thirteen-year-old girls from "thus-and-such" country came into the thread, quoted Mike, and smiled, saying, "You posted!" or "Why can't I post?"
Problem is, I'm sure Mike wasn't meaning to exclude, the members just took it that way. This election is and always will be a U.S. ELECTION. It's not an election for Lithuania or India (I'm not putting the spotlight on specific people or countries. They were just the first places to come to mind).
Another problem is the fact that the MAJORITY of the people on this site from different countries are under the age of eighteen (notice I said 'majority' here. I know there are several members from other places that aren't). I suppose Mike was just, although being presumptuous, taking precautions so all the "ump-teen" girls from "thus-and-such" country wouldn't come in here and tell him how hot he was rather than talking about the importance of our election.
Just my opinion though.

yep, thats pretty much what i meant.
holy crap it took me FOREVER to read this whole thread. (ringing phones and a crying baby didnt help)
its a great thread, especially now (a few months closer to the election) it would be cool to revive. i HATE always being late to this kind of stuff. but then again, im technically not supposed to comment on here since im not a US citizen (btw, this pisses me off ALOT more than i would like to admit-even to myself, because, even tho i kinda defended Mr. Shinodas statement/rule, i cant help but feel offended)
anyway, i guess this kind of serious discussion doesnt stand much of a chance here, unless people think that theres a chance *HE* will read it and comment.

whats funny is, im trying SO hard not to be pissed about it, but its not working...lol i mean, i *think* i know why he did it and i get it and stuff, it just pisses me off because, i may not be a citizen of the untied states of america, BUT as i stated above, my husband is (and so is our son) and being an armywife for 5 years, 2 deployments and alot of other shit, i have earned the right to at least state my opinion without growing hair on my teeth. :P
(if this reads as me being pissed, im not, just a little annoyed)
EDIT: dont wanna spam this thread anymore than i already have, just wanted to add this:

its a human rights campain collecting signatures for gay marriage.
i signed it months ago, just got an email saying that they've reached their goal of 1 million, but they are still collecting. sign if you wanna.

So a week or two ago Palin came to my city. And apparently there was a bunch of "racist" comments being made by the people waiting in line. There was also McCain/Palin protesters outside. Here is a video on youtube of some of the comments.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHrExRHZnm0
They made the biggest deal about was the stuffed monkey that guy had. People said it was racist. But here is what I have to say: How is that racist? If Obama was white and they called him a monkey it wouldn't be racist. He looks like a monkey, so what. People say Bush looks like a chimp. That's no different.
I love living in Johnstown!!! Those McCain supports are so right and not racist. Well, one or two of them might have said something racist. Like, "Go back to Kenya." But for the most part they are right. I wish I could have gone. Some of the people said comments that made me lol. My favorite comment was, "We'll vote for who we want, this isn't an Oprah show." lmfao She's right though.
If I'm not mistaken there is more arguing going on between people here than when Bush came in 2004. I went to that. T'was amazing.
But thanks to all that stuff, Murtha said that Western Pennsylvania's were racist which made him go down in the polls. Which means William Russell has a chance of beating Murtha, which has never happened. I want to see the day were people just vote Murtha out. I don't want him to retired or die in office. I want someone to beat him in an eletion.

My mother has been driving me nuts with the Obama hype. Personally, I am for Obama. He's my man. But my mother WILL NOT vote. She has a son in the military, and she WILL NOT vote.
Reasoning ::
She is a hardcore Democrat. She will NEVER vote Republican. HOWEVER. She is also very racist. And VERY against religions that aren't hers. So, she naturally hates Obama.
FIRST of all. Just because she doesn't want to vote for Obama or vote Republican doesn't mean she can't vote. Just go freaking vote for the Green party. The Hells it matter? JUST FUCKING VOTE.
BUT. I got into a HUGE debate with her about it this weekend. She has it in her head that Obama is a Muslim...??? Uhm, no?? He's a Christian man. She claims she's seen pictures of him walking around with a Quran. HMM, NO?! She swears UP AND DOWN that he said that when he was sworn into Congress, he was sworn in on the Quran rather than the bible. He isn't legally allowed to DO that. She's making shit up because ::
http://my2bucks.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/obama-sworn-in.jpg
That was their FAMILY Bible.
She thinks he's going to corrupt us from the inside out. It drives me nuts.
However, when she was talking about the Quran, she wasn't pronouncing it right. So, I made fun of her
She was like, "HAVEN'T YOU SEEN PICTURES OF HIM CARRYING AROUND A QURAN!?"
I was like, "...No, Mom. Have YOU seen him carrying around a Crayon?"
Good times.

Yes, let the issues be the issue (am i right? i don't want to go back on Mike's blog to check lol).
So, wtf's wrong if he smokes? It's not like if he became president he would make every US resident smoke.
But it's only his health to be in danger with smoking. I've never heard about a politician being bad because of smoke (well, not considering weed, but politicians are not supposed to XD).
