Well, I was lstening to By Myself in London 2001 and I heard, on Mike's second line of the first verse, the line from Super Xero. He says, "Do I follow my fate to escape blindly?". I went ahead and put it on youtube:

He says it around :15.

I'd say Mike did that about 80% of the time when they played By Myself live, it's one of those things that was on the original demo version that got changed for Hybrid Theory, but the band kept doing the old way live anyway (another prime example of this is the harmony vocals in the chorus of A Place for My Head).

Okay, thanks. I don't listen to By Myself a lot because most of them arn't that great (with the exception of Live In Texas where it doesn't have the Super Xero input :)) so I don't usually catch it.

I noticed that earlier....
And here's what I noticed on some 2000 shows a month ago...
24.07.2000 Orlando, FL, The Sapphire
In The End:
Watch the time go right out the window Tried to hold on, but didn't even know -> And time went right out the window Trying to hold on, but didn't even know
In spite of the way you were mocking me -> In spite of the way you ?? (ought to be??)

Mason Jar
A Place For My Head:
"I wanna live in another place
Where no one can say that I live for them"
instead of
"I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand"
In The End:
Watch it count down to the end of the day -> ???
Watch the time go right out the window -> and time went right out the window
----------------------------------
2000.10.03 - Des Moines, IA, Super Toad Entertainment Center
In The End:
Watch the time go right out the window Tried to hold on, but didn't even know -> And time went right out the window Trying to hold on, but didn't even know
--------------------------------
11.10.2000 Springfield, MO, Juke Joint
By Myself:
What do I do to ignore what's behind me
Do I follow my fate to escape blindly
instead of
What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
In The End:
Watch the time go right out the window -> and time went right out the window
--------------------------------
2000.11.30 - Providence
By Myself:
What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my fate to escape blindly
instead of
What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
ITE - correct

There were a lot of last-minute lyrical changes on Hybrid Theory, so yeah, the songs kind of evolved over time with the live performances as well. It'd be interesting to hear some performances from earlier than The Sapphire, because the songs were probably in an even earlier stage of transition then.

^^ From the demo version
By Myself:
What do I do to ignore what's behind me
Do I follow my fate to escape blindly
instead of
What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
^ I don't know if this is from the demo or not, but he does this frequently
In The End:
Watch the time go right out the window -> and time went right out the window
^ The first time I thought it was an error, but so many times ... must be a demo line
Way cool for noticing these!

Yeap, it is also from DEMO!
^ The first time I thought it was an error, but so many times ... must be a demo line
Nope. Demo is way different not just one line.
Way cool for noticing these!
