Do note that I don't DISLIKE ANY of the songs, except maybe Wake. Unlike Meteora for me every song is unique and special and I listen to every one of them cos they are so great. Of course I listen to some more then others.

I absolutely love the first 6, then the others I just like. All in all a good album, though. HHH still peeves me a bit, but oh well.

Why the hell does everyone hate In Between and Hands Held High :( Especially In Between.

Why the hell does everyone hate In Between and Hands Held High :( Especially In Between.

Personally, I don't really like Hands Held High much. The lyrics might be all deep and meaningful, etc, but I simply don't like the rest of it at all. The "amen" part especially irritates me.

And In Between just doesn't do it for me either. I don't think it's anything fantastic at all, really. Again apart from the lyrics, the vocals aren't that great or anything like that. And neither is the music work when compared to their entire discography.
I mean compare that to No Roads Left. Mike does an AMAZING job on that song. Totally brilliant, seriously.

The question is - what do you like so much about those 2 songs?

And hey, don't take this as an attack on you or anything. Simply just my opinion. You're entitled to like whatever songs you like.

And for the record, those are the only 2 songs on the record that I don't really like that much.

I don't know why I like In Between so much. Maybe it's just Mike's voice. I do like the bass line and how the song adds more layers of music as it progresses.

Hands Held High is just fresh and great to me.

And looking at the song choices you listed I'd say you probably prefer the songs with Mike in them.

I personally just go for good sounding more melodious songs like In the End, Pushing Me Away, With You, Numb, Breaking the Habit, What I've Done, Leave out all the Rest, No Roads Left, etc etc.

But don't get me wrong - if I had to choose between HHH/In Between and another artist, I would most definitely go with LP.

And I mean I guess it was great how they tried to experiment with Mike. It just didn't really 'wow' me over - but maybe next time ;)

Some of them I can't really order fairly. Wake and What I've Done are pretty equal, not a fan of either. Then there was the debate for Given Up and Bleed It Out, mosely because I really like the bridge for GU but I prefer the verses in Bleed It Out. In Between and In Pieces are equal aswell, but for completely different reasons of liking. Difficult decision to make.
