I have a few friends that like LP and sort of like the new album, they prefer the louder LP music. I like that too but I really liked the fact that they had changed the style of this album. It was alot calmer and easier to listen to.
Anyway, they all hate The Little Things Give You Away, bit I love it. I don't know why I love it but it's by far my favourite on the album.
I'd just like to know everybody elses opinion on this track...

It's one of my favourites on the album, I like it, especially in the end of the song, where both Chester and Mike are singing

That's my favourite song on the album.
Over the years, my music tastes have mellowed a bit, so it's definitely cool to hear LP with some softer stuff. But of course, the oldschool LP is just as great.

I love it. Such an amazing song.

It was actually one of the first songs I heard from the new album, but I didn't even know it at the time! The day that I brought Minutes To Midnight, they were playing Little Things through the speakers in the store, and I was liking the sound, and when it got to the chours for the second time, I finally figured out it was Chester singing! I hung around the store until the song had finished. I couldn't believe it was Linkin Park, because it was so different. It was so refreshing to hear something new actually.

It's now one of my favourite Linkin Park songs.

You listen to Tool then say TLTGYA is too long to listen to??!!
I refuse to accept that answer!

The song is incredibly amazing, and I just love it. I listen to it, over and over again. It's also one of my favs of MTM.
I especially love the end of the song, Chester's voice, echoing three verses, so beautiful it is...

It's even better live.;)
And it's Mike singing everything at the end except for the "woah-oh's" being Chaz:)

Which is exactly why I say I'm surprised I like that band.

It took me about a year, but I got into them.

Plus, I'm still not into the slow Tool songs, so TLTGYA isn't that great to me either.

It needs to be different a bit, not just the same pace.
Kinda like 1stp Klosr, for me to like it

The best track on the album. The end is perfect, and it's nice to hear Dave singing too. Now since seeing it live I have to fight back tears when I listen to it

I think this song is so amazing. I mean, it's so original, very long song and the more you listen to it, the more you like it.
It's just so incredible and the best moment for me is when you can listen the BBB's guitar which starts and then the songs open itself sooo good, very good, and everyone sings, all instruments are like...wow. LP are my life.

Couldnt have put it better :D i also agree with what LP said about having it last on the album as nothing could follow it, as the ending is so powerful.

Phoenix sings "The little things give you away"
Mike sings "All you ever wanted was someone to truly look up to you"
Chester does the "Ooooh"

Mike sings "All you ever wanted was someone to truly look up to you"
Chester does the "Ooooh"

Phoenix only sings that part live.

On the record it's:
Chester - "Woooh-ooh"
Mike - "The little things give you away"
Mike - "All you ever wanted was someone to truly look up to you"

I agree about the powerful ending. Wish they had played it in Manchester as I think it's a brilliant song, one of LP's best IMO. :)

I like TLTGYA. It's one of my favourite (after LOATR) and I think that people who says it's to slow and louder songs are better aren't open for difrend kinds of music.

I agree. But if you aren't allowed to play even soft songs at super high volumes, metal is better.

For me, it wasn't anything too special, until one day....

I was on holiday. Once every year, we go out to the Alps. We were on the bus to Val D'Isere, quite a long journey, and it was quite warm. Clear skys, sunny, hot. In the bus, i had 2 seats to myself, so was sprawled out, and felt really relaxed. The Little Things Give You Away was on, and it was like, the quiet breakdown was driving up the final part of hill, in the heat, so, so, so relaxed, and then just as the solo begins, the bus crested the hill, and into view came the village, the lake, the snow, everything. It was a so, so incredible feeling I don't know if I can recreate.

Sorry if that sounded really dumb, but hey! That's my take on the song.

Hi btw, this is possibly my second visit, first post, I think :)

i really like the song because it feels like its a more personal song.
like it feels like chester is singing to you
and the instrumental part, esp. brad's solo, just seems to take you away to a whole new scene.
the little things give you away is very deep and emotional, and just an amazing song =)

but then again, i say this about all of their songs xD

That wasn't dumb at all. That actually sounds beautiful.

______

I've worked with this song a lot for videos that I've made. For every one of them, the solo has always been this huge breaking point where the emotion that has built up in the "story" of the video is let loose. But that's only for the videos.

Honestly, I love to hear this song live. It has got to be one of my all time favorites.

I saw it played live for the first time at Projekt Rev this summer. I made sure I had enough space on my memory card for my digital camera to record Mike's piano solo and Brad's guitar solo. I was recording the screen on Mike's piano solo and the camera was taking shots of the crowd. It was so somber and sobering to see all the people just staring up at the stage, watching him play the haunting tune he was playing.

And then Brad's guitar solo came up, and I was recording the screen again. I was staring at the screen, just recording it, and then I just started to cry. Literally. I will not lie about that. It is the most beautiful thing (save for Mike's singing voice XD) in the entire world.
