In Between appreciation thread

I just thought i would start an in between appreciation thread, as its such an awesome song and i don't think it gets the recognition it should and wanted to know if other people think the same?

I actually have to say I disagree with this thread.
There's something about In Between that makes it so easy for me to hate this song.It lacks an important element for a song to be called 'a great song'.
It's not because of Mike's voice that I dislike this song,because his voice is sooo beautiful in NRL!
I've never liked this song,I listened to it several times to give it another chance-but I STILL don't like it.
I don't know...Maybe it's me...

I'm not so sure whether I like this song or not to be honest, I've not listened to it enough to swing one way or the other.

It's different, and it's good for being different because it breaks the RAWK!!!!!!!!!!! up in a way the other slow songs don't. It's probably just because of where it's placed on the tracklisting. I always expect songs like In Between to be the calm before the storm, only on MTM the storm never happens.

As I said previously, it's a good song, but it just feels as though it kicks off a winding down period for the album, and I'm not quite sure whether or not the album as a whole is paced right because of this. That said, LP/Whoever sorts out tracklistings felt it was the right place to put it, so what do I know, eh?

Im in with loving the song. It´s really emotional, and really different and beautiful.

I like "In Between"

This songs shows that Mike can provide vocals where needed and it's a great song musically. I love the live version of the song because it adds something new and different to LP's set

They really know how to write simple and sweet lyrics with a rough, but meaningful vocal. I actually like it more than No Roads Left. NRL is a beautiful song, but In Between is fresher. And I like that Chester backs him up, it makes the song a Linkin Park song.

I agree, i love mikes rappin and i wish there was more of it on mtm, but its also great to hear his soulful side :D

When I first heard it I found it boring cause it's too slow, but after hearing it properly a few times I don't mind it too much....not as much as HHH anyway :\

I think people are ragging on In Between occasionally because it's repetitive. But, people ragged on What I've Done for being repetitive too, when it was first released. (Funny, how people get mad at a song for being repetitive, yet, they repeatedly start getting mad at other repetitive songs too.) Anyways, I think LP does use the word "lie" in their songs way too much, and I think this is the only song they've done about truth and lies that got the point across that they may have always been trying to get. They had to write the song like, a bajillion different times, but they got it :D

I love the song. I think it works emotionally and it's simple enough that is very friendly and relatible to those who hear it. For me, at least.

Gotta disagree with this thread- I'm sorry, but In Between is just so slow and lacks the excellent spark of some other LP ballads (Breaking the Habit, Leave out all the Rest)

I watched LP live last year and after a fabuluous Crawling and manic Papercut, In Between just killed the momentum.

I like this song. The slow tempo isn't much of a problem, because In Between has wicked bass lines. You can even hear the fret noise. The song layering and vocal blending is cool. This truly shows Linkin Park's musicality. This song just doesn't get the praise it deserves because lots of kids prefer heavy and fast rock tracks.

Agreed.(what a nu-metal track, huh?) It has this cool, organic and down-to-earth feeling to it and the vocals are layered really nice. Also it´s really steering away from anything they´ve done before. Really honest.

Yes i would agree this is a great song, maybe if not by itself, but certainly to show the talent the band have with creating a really stripped back almost acoustic sound. The mellotron cello sound and the raw vocals add to the awesomeness of this track. Its certainly a huge step away from all their hugely layered, double-tracked vocals and heavy guitar, but it shows they can do other stuff. It shows they can take simple sounds and make an awesome experience. If you say you hate it, I would say u should listen to it more closely. It might grow on you.

lots of people just dont like it at first because its not what they're expecting but its such a quality song and its really nice to hear Mike's voice like that. Hopefully they play it at Sonisphere! :)

Any slow emotional song will make you sleep if, in the first place, a "steroidal" song is what you are after. Frame the songs in the 'proper' context and you'll appreciate its beauty.
