what do you guys think?

If they didn't do a SOTD single, then LOATR would have worked, but as it is, the two songs are too similar and would probably be confused by non-fans, so no, I don't think it should be a single. Something like In Pieces or The Little Things Give You Away would work, though they might end up doing either Given Up or No More Sorrow.

followed by valentines day

they play pretty much every single they've ever released officially at every concert.

in the end, crawling, papercut, points of authority, one step closer, somewhere i belong, faint, from the inside, breaking the habit, numb, what i've done, bleed it out, shadow of the day.

they DO NOT, however, play leave out all the rest at every show, so it wouldn't make sense to release it.

and valentine's day/in between wont be singles because they've never played them live.

so by theory (i wrote a thread about this) the next single will either be little things give you away, no more sorrow or given up :)

I agreee. I hope they do The Little Things..., i think they could get a great vid out of it.

They had never played Breaking the Habit live until not long before they announced it'd be the next single. Just some food for thought.

But yeah, so far they've had a straight up rock song with WID, a faster more hip-hop song with Bleed it Out, and a ballad with Shadow of the Day. I'm calling Given Up or No More Sorrow as the next single just because using one of them as a single would give them 4 diverse singles from the album.

I personally hope No More Sorrow is next out of those two just because I feel like Given Up is kinda weak as a song.

Hmm, song is nice, but for single, I want, No More Sorrow :) Given Up would be nice, if choose ballad, I want little things, it's awesome song, and video clip would be 6 minutes long :)

not neccessarily (<that looks odd for some reason...)
Tools "The Pot" and "Vicarious" are both over 6mins and they aren't edited. But Tool are special....:D

It should be. It's one of the best track on the album. I even think it's better than What I've Done. If they release this song as a single, it will be a classic like Numb. Because it's like the old LP: influential lyrics.

Personally I'd like to hear a more upbeat track released before Leave Out All The Rest. I've really got my fingers crossed for In Pieces.

I agree with you.

In my opinion LOATR should be the last single of this album.

Leave Out All The Rest is great, but for the next single I think No More Sorrow or Given Up would be better cause LOATR is a little similar to Shadow of the Day...

yup special, they don't let the label make shitty edits of their songs just for radio play, it would wreck the songs.
TLTGYA for next and last single!!

Well, they said that LOATR would be a single, and it sounds too perfect for radio to not be released. I hope that’s still their intention.

Does anyone remember their K-Rock Hostile Takeover? During the segment where Mike and Chester do the "little red rocket" joke, Mike ends it by saying "Here’s 'Leave Out All The Rest.'" Then, Green Day’s "American Idiot" starts to play instead and that’s what’s listed on the website’s play list. I think maybe they intended to play LOATR, but accidentally flipped the wrong button or switch, because you can clearly hear Mike announce LOATR. If that’s the case, the songs they intended to play during their takeover were: WID, BIO, SOTD, LOATR, and NMS. I thought it was interesting since 3 of the songs they played are already singles, and they typically release 5 singles per album...

I think they should release at least one more slow song to give a more accurate representation of the album. They only have 3 hard songs on MtM (BIO, GU, and NMS), and if they release all 3 as singles, listeners who buy the album expecting more songs like that will be disappointed. They already released one hard, one mid-tempo, and one soft song. It makes sense to make the last 2 singles one more soft and one more hard song.

I actually think it would be a good idea to release LOATR after SOTD. Right now they have 3 songs in the Top-20 on Alternative. Maybe it makes sense to release LOATR after SOTD, focus it on Pop stations to give their other songs a chance to lose some steam on Alternative, and then slam rock stations with something like NMS so that rock radio is left with THAT impression of them. You know, end the album cycle with a bang.

i love so much this track...but i'd prefer "given up" or "no more sorrow" as next single...after "shadow of the day" i'd prefer a more lively song...

I think the chances are:

Leave Out All The Rest: 40%
In Pieces: 30%
Given Up: 20%
Valentine's Day: 10%

Theres no chance of NMS, the genral public wont like it, it would only attract a limted number of people (because its heavy and political), if LP really liked it they might make it a last single. Personally I think its one of the worst songs LP have made, I can't stand it.

Im hoping for In Pieces, I think its a safe option and would work, and is a brillent fast and powerfull song with strong lyrics.

Valentine's Day would be a risky choice, it would ither do really, really well (if promoted well) or will just completly fail.

Similer to NMS I think Given Up would be limting there numbers (maybe not as much as NMS). I like the song but wouldn't be a good single.

But whatever is picked im more looking forward to the video the most :D. (plus single track extras).

Given Up would be good for the next single.

Has for leave out all the rest, i suggest maybe the last single of the album, not right now, cause shadow of the day is very similar, so i suggest other now like given up.

Why? No More Sorrow isn't any more political than American Idiot or B.Y.O.B.. It's actually pretty vague compared to most political songs, I can't see why that should hurt it.

Similer to NMS I think Given Up would be limting there numbers (maybe not as much as NMS). I like the song but wouldn't be a good single.

Why would heavy hurt them? Seems like that would help them. Doesn't everyone expect heavy from Linkin Park? Didn't everyone get pissed because of the lack of heavy from MTM?

I got pissed because of it
I really wanted a heavy single and thanks god they will do it
I hope NMS will be the next single ( after GU)

In Pieces. Nuff said. LOATR is too special to me. I don't want it to be polluted by the mainstream. Besides, In Pieces (along with TLTGYA)is completely different from anything they have ever tried before, and they're known for putting out a very "odd" single at the end of the run for a record. Like In The End or Breaking The Habit.

LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST
Chester: "We knew this was going to be a single from the very beginning, so we worked really hard on making sure it had great lyrics. I'm singing 'Pretending someone else can save me from myself' during it because it's supposed to feel like an apology letter, as though i'm moving on but i want people to remember the good things and not the bad things. A lot of the song is about humility."
source: http://lptimes.com/news2007/april/news04042007.html

so the next single will definitly be given up - heavy - and that increases the chances for leave out all the rest to be the 5th and last one drastically, since it's a calmer one... one of my favorites by the way... i'm already curious about the video :)
*spreads optimism*

It'd be really cool if LOATR was the last single! It fits exactly with the lyrics..."When my time comes...Forget the wrong that I've done..."
It's like they're apologizing if fans were dissapointed in MTM but they have already tried their best in making the fans happy. That will be so cooool!
I can already imagine the vid!

U're probably right, but I'll stay optimistic XD

As long as it's not Valentine's Day... (probably won't, I mean, the "February single" will be Given Up and... yeah, Valentine's Day is a more metaphoric title, but... I can only listen to that around February 14th as I can only listen to My December between mid of November and New Years Eve ^^') or Hands Held High (nice song, great lyrics and music, but I personally don't feel connected to it and I don't wanna have it every day in TV XD') I'm fine with anything :)

*would prefer In Between or No Roads Left instead of LOATR, if there was a chance - just because of being curious about the video - but...* *sigh*
Anyway, LOATR is one of my favs >.<V *hopes*
