This no doubt is a little early for some parts of the world, but since it's the 20th here in NZ I thought I'd take a moment to celebrate this important date ^_^

Happy 7th Anniversary!! :D

Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory was released on the 24th October 2000, and went gold in just 5 weeks after the release!
It became 2001's top selling album and the guys received a Diamond certification from the RIAA for it in 2004.

[/thanks to lpassociation.com for details]

I believe it has sold over 24 million copies world wide to date, but if anyone has more recent or accurate figures please correct me :)

Congrats LP!

Love Hybrid Theory to death. Classic album from Linkin Park and revolutionary mixing with Nu-Metal with eletronica. 5/5

I'm resisting the urge to start collecting all of the LP singles. I don't think it would be healthy for my bank account lol
I really want BTH though.

You think the band is gonna release a 10 year aniversary thing with Hybrid Theory?

remembered the day i bought hybrid theory...it was march 2001 (i was 13 back then) i was in a record store and i immediately rushed to grab a copy of HT because i thought they were about to be sold out because back then, HT was the best-selling foreign rock album in Manila (well, they still are up to now) anyways, it was my celebration for saving up 450php($9)for the cd and for my summer vacation. since then, i've been listening to HT non-stop and i really loved every song.

seven years later i'm now 19 and in college, several LP albums bought, one LP show seen, i still listen to HT every once in a while. this album definately opened up my passion for great music.

i'm one of those LP fans that Chester describes that 'grew up' with them. Now, i'm happy about minutes to midnight and to LP, please continue to make good music because we fans will always be here to support you guys. rock on LP!

Happy Birthday to Theory, yes!!...

Iīm celebratet it by putting the cd in the player and keeping it there for a few days... it still sounds fresh but familiar.. even though, now after MTM release and listening to it a lot, the "oldies" sound like "new" again in a way, cause theyīre so different... itīs been a while since I first time heared the opening beat of Papercut and was wondering "whatīs this".. and been hooked ever since..

..btw. I wonder what would the name of the album have been, if LP(HT) didnīt have to change their name.. haha, maby not "Linkin Park", though:cool:

Since Hybrid Theory got mixed reviews from critics. I found a review that I'm sure you guys might enjoy and I pretty much agree everything to this perosn's thoughts:

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory:

Every once in awhile, an album is released that completely changes the current music scene. These kinds of albums are emotional, powerful, and groundbreaking. Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" fits the description exactly.

The amazing thing about this album is that each track is great. Not just good -- great. No mediocre songs, filler songs, or anything like that. Each song has its own character and emotion, which makes for one high-quality album. There are no songs that I want to skip over when I listen to the CD and the variety of song styles keeps them from blurring together. The Linkin Park band members put a lot of thought and effort into each song and it shows.

Linkin Park's music could be described as a melodic mixture of hard rock and hip hop. It is the fusion of these two widely different musical styles that makes Linkin Park's music so engaging. The hip hop beats and rap phrases add to the songs' character, while the powerful melodies of the songs make them fluent and memorable. The band uses a mix of traditional and nontraditional chord progressions to create a number of powerful verse-chorus structures.

While the music is enjoyable and well-written, the lyrics are just as solid. The words of the songs express frustrations, disappointments, and feelings from failed relationships. Because the songs are so honest and personal, they pack a lot of meaning. Even in their frustration, the band members don't promote hate or violence and keep their language clean throughout the CD, which I admire.

The song "Points of Authority" is about being used by someone else and makes good use of various metaphors to make a point. The track is creatively composed with a number of unique sounds. "Crawling" is about overcoming insecurity caused by previous events. I like how honest the song is and the comparison of emotional damage to wounds that won't heal is powerful. "Papercut" has a similar theme, but directs the frustration towards the person who caused the damage. My favorite song, "One Step Closer," is about dealing with the culmination of life's frustrations, and is a great song to listen to when you need to vent.

This album is packed with meaningful lyrics backed by creative, captivating melodies. Linkin Park's own unique style adds to the overall enjoyment of the songs. The compilation of songs on this disc is truly remarkable and makes this album an instant classic.

That's a really good honest review. It really depends on the person reviewing and what mood they're in. I've read a lot of reviews slating HT because it's a teen angst/immature album. You're hardly gonna get an honest review unless the person reviewing the album is a fan or at least knows something about that style of music.

hey that was a really awesome review.

i can't believe Hybrid Theory is 7 years old!!! where has the time gone *sentimental*. lol.

I am so thankful for HT - for many obvious reasons and some not so obvious reasons.

Happy 7th anniversary HT!!! :D
