Even if I didn't have better things to spend my money on, I refuse to pay such ridiculous fucking prices for a CD that costs shit-all to make. That isn't supporting a band. That's lining their pockets with more fucking money than they actually need.

And I have a way to get money, thanks. I'm still going to continue downloading songs to heaven and high hell until the music industry stop robbing us fucking blind.

not all bands are loaded with money you know. bands that you download songs from for free are gonna have to quit because people don't buy their music. they might make money from touring and merch, but the bulk of their money comes from cd sales, and when they are a small band, the small amout of profit they migh make from the few cd's they sell goes towards funding tours.

also, you just have to look for cheap cds. not all cost a fortune.

Fact - the cost of making one CD is approx. 20 cents.

thats just one part of it all though. it costs money to promote a cd, artwork for a cd, aswel as the production of the actual music aswel in the studios. it's not all free so they have to make their money back somehow, aswel as trying to make a proffit, because, as much as some people might disagree, but working in the music industry is a job too.

Quite a few. My dad is one of them. He could probably give you a run for your money when it comes to general knowledge, but ask him to string a sentence together and he's screwed.

I don't generally listen to "small" bands. Most of the music I like is either old school or they're already established artists. For those few bands that I like that are just starting out, yes, I do buy their CDs occasionally. I just refuse to buy a CD for every band I like because then I wouldn't be able to afford anything. If these artists just genuinely want to share their music with people, then they have to understand that a good majority of those people can't afford to buy new CDs all the time. I won't apologise for downloading free music. I like too much music to be able to go out and waste money on a CD all the time. And whatever happened to word of mouth? Maybe if people start refusing to pay such ridiculous prices, artists wouldn't be paid such ridiculous amounts of money to perform and smaller bands might have the chance to shine.
