What's the lyrics expressing? I never really get the song when I hear it, but it's a beautiful song though.

Love, I guess. In my opinion, it's obivously a love song, and it's so cool cause you can't even find the word 'love' in the lyric.

yeah, i understand your point of view. But perhaps, analyzing it literally, it talks about a lonely christmas or something, like december at least in my country is the time of the year when all your family meets and the time when u spend most time with your friends due to the same reasons: "christmas" n new year.


U never realize how alone u are untill those two holidays come and you really feel like you are alone in the world, and thus you feel like the time is all for yourself 'cuz you don't have anyone to share it with.

The fact of not having anyone around is probably because of arguments with family and/or friends, that's why the song goes: "just wish that i didnt feel / like there was something i missed / and i / take back all the things i said / to make you feel like that / and i / just wish that i didnt feel
like there was something i missed / and i / take back all the things i said to you ".

Then, if you are having problems with your family and stuff, and you went away, u wont probably be welcome and that's why "i give it all away just to have somewhere to go to ".

"...this is my december / these are my snow covered dreams / this is me pretending / this is all i need..." Tries to comfort himself by sayin that, he's got nothing but the snow, reminds me the relationship between tom hanks & wilson in castaway O.o...

... well, that's my interpretation of the song, a lonely christmas.

Haphazardly i trumpled today over this song again - it`s been a year i listened to this song the last time. =) Then in december when i had some serious problems with my girlfriend i was listening the whole day to this song. That song is one of those i started the year 2007 with. ( Numb is the other one ^^ ) oh, i babble xD

The lyrics are about letting go - just to find your peace, i think. Like in "A place for my head" the narrator is looking for a calm place to arrange his thoughts. He reaches this aim by giving up everything he believes in.
"and i take back all the things i said to make you feel like that" he gives everything up und he`s talking to a second person. A person he loves maybe. Maybe before this song there was a twist between the two of a couple or good friends.

But it`s not only the wording of the song. The melody is also important.. It`s typical december. calm, soft. it conveys a kind of feeling you get when you`re at home. outside the cold wind. inside a warm place. security. the narrator wants to get these feelings.
