Minutes to Midnight DVD not working?

This appears to be happening to an awful lot of people which suggests that the DVD is faulty. Since nothing official has been said about it yet, I can't give you any real advice on what to do. However, this has happened to me a couple of times before and ususally, the store will either refund of exchange the DVD for one that works so don't panic just yet. However, you may need to retain your reciept from the place you bought it from.

Please don't contact me with your individual situations. Nothing official has been said about it yet so I have no idea what to do with it. I'm as much in the dark as you are. At the moment, the best advice I can give you is to keep everything as you bought it. This way, if you do have to exhange it, there shouldn't be any problems. As soon as something official comes through, you'll be the first to know.

According to numerous reports, including a first-hand encounter by yours truly, it appears Warner Music Canada has recalled the Special Edition CD/DVD combo of Minutes To Midnight due to a defect that restricts the viewing of certain content. HMV and Future Shop have removed the Special Edition from their shelves as a result of this recall. There is no known ETA for when this mistake will be rectified and proper working editions will be returned to Canadian shelves. We will keep you posted.

you mean, that it won´t work on a DVD player, or on PC..lptimes had al link to some instructions, what to so, but I can´t do anything with it on my PC, the computer doesn´t recognise, there´s a disk inside, si i can´t really do anything..but I can watch it on tv alright..

I was quite irritated at the news yesterday...but needless to say that didn't stop me from buying the standard version. I'll just wait until the special edition is re-released and buy it then :)

well i bought my CD/DVD special edition from Amazon.co.uk, and as far as i know they wont let me return it now its been opened, so i dont know what i'm supposed to do. i'm not particularly fussed about not being able to access a few pictures and whatnot, but after paying 18 quid for it i expect it to function properly lol
the tips that were in the LP newsletter dont work for me because the problem is with the DVD coding itself, not the computer.

well i got my cd/dvd edition from amazon.de and after talking to them they were fine with sending a new one to me. Might work for you the same way :)

amazon usually lets you return any kind of stuff if there's still waranty on it and you have a copy of the bill
btw: this reminds me of my earphones i still need to get replaced by them ;)

Some people had problems with the Special Edition DVD especially with the PC content like wallpapers, Buddy Icons etc.

You must terminate the service "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service" and set the startup type to disabled. You find that service here: control panel->administrative tools->services

right click on my computer and click on manage

after deactivating you must restart and than give a try. it worked for me ...

Mine doesn't work on the computer but on the dvd player and ps2 it works.When I click the dvd thigny it says something like "Linkin Park.exe is not a valid Win32 application" and when I try to click load the launcher it says something about a Macromedia Projector.

Yep thats what I did. i Emaild them and they got back at me right avway telling me that they would sent me a replacement or that i could get my money back. You can find the adress under "my account". Its pretty easy and they dont make a big deal out of it.

Ive had a few problems with the DVD in the beginning. but mine works fine now...
if ur trying to play it on the computer... its probably going slow cause the LP network program is trying to open. after i got that to open the dvd ran perfectly fine.

I'd return mine, but I really don't care much about the connected experience part with the additional wallpapers/photos (which didn't work), everything else seems to work fine (including the extras and songs), so not gonna really hassle sending it back to amazon.

Hello fellowed troubled people.

I purchased mine from CDWow.com and had it delivered to my address in the United Kingdom (Britain). I contacted CDWow.com for information as to whether I could get a replacement.

According to CDWow; it has been deleted and there are no more copies available. Once they're gone - they're gone. Deleted, for those who don't know; mean that once the publisher of the disc has done a few runs of them, they no longer keep it on their records and no longer print more DVDs.

So what does this mean? It means we're pretty much stuffed unless those that be that originally published the DVD offer a replacement to everyone that bought it or arrange something with their resellers. It's doubtful; chances are we're stuck with our screwed dvds.

Those who've managed to get one that works - well I find that both wonderful and difficult to believe when it's such a mass spread problem but would imply more than one factory was pumping out these discs. The problem is evidently in the mastering process as some data, a 'bit' appears to be out of place or there's an error in the Table of Contents for the disc. It's possible that it could be repaired by some third party software re-interpreting the discs contents but it would have to be seen what caused the problem in the first place or analysing the disc to find the offset. (Eg. when you're viewing readme.txt chances are you're viewing part of linkinpark.exe). Though that's just a theory. There's no doubt that the contents are corrupted though as the executables give the error "There is not enough memory to run this application". Which, after further research means that the 'header' portion of the application is corrupted; causing Windows to interpret it as a DOS application and try to fit it within the 640kb of RAM aimed at DOS apps. Allegedly it can be repaired but I haven't looked into it fully.

So my only choices from CDWow.com was to either keep the disc, or to return for a full refund. And when it's deleted from the publishers - like hell is it going back. But please, those who're having problems. Contact where they bought it from; because if 'the powers that be' on this forum aren't even aware of the problem it means people aren't complaining enough to the right people.

I love the album, but hate the MVI disc. Surely we deserve some kind of official response about this.

I bought one on May the 14th and the DVD worked perfectly but the CD was scratched so I exchanged it, and then the DVD was defective: it was not the good frontpage, the titles were one under the other and not on the top of the page, and it was not easy to go from the songs for example to the making of. So I exchanged it one more time and the DVD was defective again; when I went back to the store I asked the seller wheather there were other people in the same case and he said no. Besides he tried an other one and it was the same: defective :( So they gave me my money back.

And can you tell me if there are several numbers on the book (and on the package) or if they all have the same number, because I went in anothr store and it was the same number ( 100 719-2 on the book and 2-100 719 (#1) on the package) so that I didn't buy it because maybe it would have come from the same factory and wouldn't have worked.

And now I don't know where to buy a special edititon that works.

Right on, I'm buying an Xbox 360! I got totally addicted to Halo3. Me and my friend I haven't hung out with in a long time are starting to get to know one another again. I'd have to say he's the closest thing I have to a brother. My real family aren't even close to family. Me and him are going to move to a better town where I know alot of girl, and I might try and get a job there too. I might have to cover the Highspeed internet with alot of other stuff too. I don't really care, as long as I get a pimpin' pad happening. The important appliance that I buy though is the Xbox 360. It's my central piece to my place I think. I love the competitiveness of the Halo 3 game online. I own everyone when I'm on! It's another form of Qua. I have to edge out the competition like in the business world, if I'm to be successful. Linkin Park has been integral in alot of my endeavours, and I thank them.
