I don't like it, sounds like a Velvet Revolver leftover. I'm hoping that the rest of the album doesn't sound like this, because Bennington did say he changed a lot of shit between how the album was when it was "finished" in 2006 and it being done now.

joe, it sounds nothing like velvet revolver.
i've heard so many comparisons it's untrue. according to kerrang, they are a mixture of blur and u2. wtf? some people have said the sound like green day, again, no chance.
they sound like a poppier version of nine inch nails.

Haven't listened yet, but I gotta say a big THANK YOU for posting this in the right forum.

oh, and the song is okay. chester sounds good. of all the songs i heard at sonisphere, the middle one they played, a slower song, was the best. was impressed with that one. other two were average.

I think it's pretty good...I like all the songs I've heard so far.
Listened to it once, and I'm not really liking it. If I remember right, Chester said somewhere that the tracks he write/wrote for Dead By Sunrise are darker than those he write for LP (too dark for LP to play or something). But this song, I don't know...only word I come up with is 'soft'. And like the one who started this thread said, it kinda sounds like Velvet Revolver. I hate to say all that, but I guess I was just waiting for a little bit more.

Heard what I expected, basic rock stuff. Liked the melodies, and expect better from the rest of the album.

Okay, this is why I don't like the LPMB much; just about each person with an opinion starts their own thread. You could have one thread on "Crawl Back In" and keep to that. No offense but this place is so insanely messy ...

I've listened to it the other day, it sucks badly. I saw this coming since none of the other songs played live or whatever were worth a second listen, except for "let down" maybe..

I'm one of the rare few who don't actually mind it. At sonisphere there was a lot of "Link-In-Park" chants whilst DBS were playing which I thought was stupid. All bands start out with people not knowing them and it only makes it harder for chester when he is the lead singer of such a huge band, there'll always be people going it's the LP guy and expecting music similiar to LP, the same goes with Mike. In some way's it's harder for them.

Not a big fan of Crawl Back In either... I LOVE the lyrics, but I think the music doesn't go with it. The song doesn't "catch" me like The Morning After, Let Down and Fire (and even My Suffering). Not that I don't like it, it just I don't quite understand why they've chosen this very song for the 1st single...

Chester's voice rules (as usual) and the guitar riffs and solo are really cool! But seriously, can't Chester find another subject for his songs' lyrics other than "I don't wanna be like you, I wanna be myself" and similar teeny 'angst' crap?
It's okay to express your feelings as an artist but repeating the same friggin' thing for 7 years reveals a serious lack of creativity or/and inspiration...

Guess I'm insane or something because I f**king love the stuff Chester's doing with DBS =)
Its great that he's doing something of his own.. and its equali great that he's not abandon LP.
Thanx to this great idea from Chester I now have 2 great groups (totaly different) with the same amazing singer to listen to =)

Last LP record should prove that he can do other lyrics aswell.. right?
But then people complain about the music instead and how it was sooo wrong to write 'that kinda' lyric etc... if you people never are happy with what they do.. why keep listen?
I realy wonder.

Don't forget that Mike co-wrote the lyrics of the last album... That's why, I guess, the lyrics dealt with relatively deeper subjects. But still, there was plenty of teeny 'angst' crap repeating like a broken record.
Example from 'leave out all the rest': "I can't be who you are". What is this if not déjà vu? In Numb too: "All I want to do, is be more like me and be less like you" and now in Crawl back in "I don't wanna be like them".
It's not 'complaining', it's simply objective criticism. It's another way of supporting the artist. Fans are not here to worship the band like mindless sheeps...

Ok Estel.. I get your point about the not worship =)
I guess I'm just one of these that like that 'teenage anguish crap' ;)
But we can't all like the same stuff And that's ok =)
Guess I like it (even though being 36 soon) because I still going through some undealt crap from the past.. don't know. Maybe its the same for him.
Sometimes some things stay with us regardless of how old we get. Guess the scars are to deep or something like that :-/
But whatever reason he has.. its good music anyways =)

And that's okay too. I just think that as an artist, he could find more creative and rich (less shallow) ways of dealing with those issues... that's it :D

I see your point. But I guess the coin always have two sides. If changing lyric to much.. the younger fans might leave. I think its a balance act. No matter what he chose its always someone that will think he should have done different.
Guess one can never saticfie every living soul.
But thank god that we are so many with so different thinking of this.. maybe that inspire him to try new things in the future =)

Notice how a large majority of us do not like this song. I have never supported the close-minded opinions of MTM, but, I think we're all on the same page here when we say "Crawl Back In has NOTHING special about it". At least MTM had substance...

I kinda like the overall sound. But it did not live up to the buzz. If it weren't for his vocals I'd think it was OK. The lyrics was average and so was the music, nothing special. To me, not very memorable except for the part "I wanna crawl back innnnn" which is kinda still stuck in my head right now. So this is the reason why I'm refraining myself anymore Dead by Sunrise songs until the official album comes out, because I believe that not the whole album will sound like this song!

Is DBS still considered Chesters solo band? Like if he decided he wanted to break some of the songs out at a Linkin Park show without the Orgy guys he could do so without it being a "Tom DeLonge leaves Blink then plays Blink songs at A&A concerts" type douche move?
I can see Too Late being played a lot at Linkin Parl concerts in the future.

I dunno.
I think Dead By Sunrise is OKAY, but I don't really like their music that much. I think that's because the appealing part of Linkin Park to me is Mike Shinoda. I really liked Fort Minor's music. I suppose that's probably the reason I didn't take to DBS at all.
But it's all OKAY.

i read it a magazine that it started off as a solo project, but moved into a band when the other guys got involved.
i doubt LP would ever play DBS songs. they only ever do short FM snippets to add to mike's rapping, rather than the set list on a whole.

people always have to judge music, always wanna say how it sounds... That's really NOT cool and just weird...
The only thing you can say honest and true about music is: I like it or I don't like it.
Not it's bad, not it's good, ...
You can call a band good when he sold a lot of albums...

Yes, it is. This is (supposedly) the Japanese retail. Which has more content. Morning After won't be on the other releases (that I know of, definitely not US) and if you're waiting for iTunes you may as well grab it now for free.
